Ervin D. Hurd was born in 1953, in California, USA – he is of African-American ethnicity and holds American nationality. He’s a technical director and video operator, but also known for being the husband of the actress and singer Chip Fields, and father of the actress Kim Fields.

Early life and education

Despite being a member of a celebrity family, and working with famous actors all the time, Erv has mostly kept out of the public eye, and hasn’t revealed a lot of details about his early life. Apparently, Erv grew up in California, and was interested in becoming a film director from an early age. He studied film at the University of California, graduating in 1979.

Erv had a very successful career as a technical director, and was even nominated for nine Primetime Emmy Awards. He started off his career in 1979, when he worked as a video editor on an episode of the short-lived children’s TV series “Beat the Clock”. In the same year, he also worked on six episodes of the sitcom “The Ropers”.

In 1982, Erv started working as a technical director on the TV series “Tattletales; subsequently, his body of work includes projects such as “The $25,000 Pyramid”, “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful”, among many others.
