David S. Koz was born on 27 March 1963, in Tarzana, California USA, of Jewish descent. Dave is a saxophonist, best known for his music in the smooth jazz genre. He’s toured with numerous bands and also pursued a solo career, having been nominated numerous times for various awards. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

Koz attended William Howard Taft High School in Los Angeles, California, and during his time there performed on the saxophone as a member of the school jazz band. After matriculating, he attended UCLA, and studied mass communications, but after graduating in 1986, he decided to pursue a career as a musician.

He was recruited to become a part of Bobby Caldwell’s tour. He served as a session musician for several bands and also toured with Jeff Lorber, and then around from 1988 to 1992 toured with Richard Marx. He played with the house band of “The Pat Sajak Show”, and also made guest appearances in “The Arsenio Hall Show”. All of these started building his net worth, before in 1990 deciding to foray into a solo career. He signed with Capitol Records, and then made his debut with a self-titled album. He continued releasing more albums with Capitol, including “Saxophonic” which was nominated for a Grammy Award.

In 1993, he released the album “Lucky Man”, and was also approached by the producers of TV series“General Hospital” to perform his track on the show. He was also commissioned to write a new theme song for the soap opera which led to “Faces of the Heart”; this remained the show’s title track for several series. The following year, Dave started his own “The Dave Koz Radio Show”, which featured music and interviews. He also co-hosted “The Dave Koz Morning Show” for six years. In 2002, he started his own record label entitled Rendezvous Entertainment alongside Frank Cody. In 2006, he then became the host of an afternoon show for the new Smooth Jazz Network. His net worth continued to build over the years.

He also continued his endeavors with a weekly half hour television series entitled “Frequency”, in which he interviewed many musicians. He then became the bandleader on “The Emeril Lagasse Show”, before finding hosting work at Sirius-XM entitled “The Dave Koz Lounge” The following year, he made a guest appearance in the show “Desperate Housewives” on which he performed. One of his latest projects is opening the restaurant called Spaghettini & the Dave Koz Lounge in 2014.

Among other awards, in 2009 Dave was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

For his personal life, it is known that Dave is gay; he came out publicly during an interview with The Advocate. He is also known to play various saxophones, including a Yamaha silver alto sax, Yamaha straight silver Soprano Sax, and a Selmer Mark 6 Tenor sax.
