The British actor Daniel Ezra is widely recognised for his appearances in the film “Blood Cells,” TV series “Prey” (both in 2014), and most recently in the CW drama series “All American” from 2018 to 2020.

Born under the Aries zodiac sign on 4 April 1993, in Birmingham, West Midlands, Daniel Ezra is 29 years old as of 2022. He has not revealed the names of his parents, but his father was a fitness instructor, and sources reveal that Ezra’s paternal grandparents hailed from Jamaica. Ezra began his acting career in London, England, where he appeared in several theater productions. He was seen in Royal National Theater’s “Romeo and Juliet ” and “Trouble in Mind,” before he made his film debut as Joseph in the 2014 BBC biographical drama “Murdered by My Boyfriend, which was written and directed by Regina Moriarty and Paul Andrew Williams respectively. In the same year, he appeared as Tim in the horror drama movie “Precipice Hours” alongside Benito Cousens, Mike Barrowman and Benny Ainsworth, who played the starring roles.

The film wasn’t very successful, however, it gave Ezra enough confidence and credit to continue pursuing acting. Before the year ended, he portrayed Thom in the drama movie “Blood Cells”, cast together with Olivia Bernstone, Mohammed Ali and Jimmy Akingbola.

Ezra later landed minor roles in several TV series between 2014-2016; he appeared in the episode “Shadow in the Sky” of the drama “Vera” playing Cameron Thorne, and in the drama “The Village” as Ghana Johnes, both in 2014; in Paul Abbott’s comedy drama “No Offense” which premiered on Channel 4 in 2015; and then in two episodes of the Nick Murphy-directed crime drama “Prey” playing Allan Gill in 2016. In the same year, he landed his first recurring role of Daniel Reed in the mystery drama “The Missing,” which premiered on 28 October 2014 on BBC One/Starz and starred Anastasia Hille and Tcheky Karyo.

Later that year, he secured the lead role of Dan Johnson in the BBC One mini-series “Undercover,” which also starred Adrian Lester, Sophie Okonedo, Derek Riddell and Dennis Haysbert, and was written by the BAFTA Award winning British playwright and screenwriter, Peter Moffat.

Rise to Prominence and Recent Roles

As he gained more experience, Ezra was selected for more prominent roles, and in 2017 he was cast in the mini-series “Prime Suspect 1973,” playing DC Ashton. The crime show is based on a Lynda La Plante novel entitled “Tennison” and is about how Jane Tennison (played by Stefanie Martini) became an unstoppable and formidable force for police; it’s also the prequel to the show “Prime Suspect.”

In the same year, he made a stage appearance in the play “Twelfth Night,” which was a part of Royal National Theater’s National Theater Live program. In the year that followed, he was seen in the fantasy TV show, “A Discovery of Witches,” which premiered on Sky One in September.

In 2018, Daniel landed the role of his career as Spencer James in the sports Tv series “All American,” which was inspired by the life of the footballer Spencer Paysinge, appearing in all its 33 episodes alongside Samantha Logan and Michael Evans Behling. The British actor had to use an American accent to play his role perfectly, and so spent a lot of time in South Los Angeles perfecting his speech before the show’s shooting began, since he didn’t have the benefit of an accent coach.

He always carried a football with him, and also watched many NFL matches to learn all the rules and cultures of  American Football. Ezra also spent a lot of time with Taye Diggs and Paysinge, who drove them around his neighborhood to help them understand the dynamics of his local district as they prepared for the show.

Ezra is highly active on several social media platforms including Instagram (@danielezra), which has more than 1.1 million followers. He opened a self-titled YouTube channel on 8 January 2020, and it now has 157,000 followers, but he doesn’t have Twitter or Facebook accounts.

Personal Life

Daniel has kept his personal life away from the public’s eye, and hasn’t introduced anyone as his girlfriend. He is now single, doesn’t have children as of 2022, and is seemingly focused solely on his thriving career.

Previously, there were rumors that Daniel was romantically involved with the “All American” starlet, Samantha Logan, who played Olivia Baker, because they seemed to have an undeniably strong on-screen chemistry. However, they confirmed that they were not dating in real life, in fact Samantha met actor Dylan Sprayberry on the set of “Teen Wolf”, and they began dating soon afterwards. They like sharing their videos and photos on Instagram, and but last posted their picture together in 2019 during Valentine’s Day, so it’s not clear whether they are still together.
