Despite being born in Dobbs Ferry, Dan was raised in Scarsdale, where he attended Scarsdale High School, and was active in sports and played in the position of offensive linemen on the school’s football team. Having matriculated he enrolled into Hobart and William Smith Colleges, – where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity – and from where Rosensweig graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science. During his college education, he studied in London as well. Prior to his big breakthrough in business, he was selling Pitney Bownes Dictaphone word processors around Manhattan, but the company released him shortly after. In the following period, he got a job at Ziff Davis and sold publications to corner-shop computer retail stores, eventually being promoted to classified ad sales, followed by his new job in front-of-book ad sales, and ending by becoming the publisher of ‘’PC Magazine’’, his net worth growing commensurately with his promotions

With Dan’s work and efforts, the previously mentioned magazine was expanding and gaining more audience. In 1996 he met with the creators of Yahoo!, and ended up creating internet magazines such as ‘’Yahoo! Of The Internet Life’’.

As of 1998, Dan became the president and the CEO of ZDNet, but sold the company to CNET in the upcoming years, with himself staying on to work on developing and introducing new internet advertising formats, continuing to work for Ziff Davis until 2000. In 2002, he took a job at Yahoo! and was in charge of product development, marketing, international operations and North American operations, in which position Dan remained until 2006.

In the following year, he joined ‘’Quadrangle Group’’, a private investment company founded in 2000. The company raised approximately $3 million in a short period of time, and subsequently its partners raised $2 billion – Dan served as a partner in the office established in Silicon Valley by Steven Rattner.

As of 2009, Rosenweig went on to join the team of ‘’Guitar Hero’’, a series of music games distributed by Activision, and serving as president and CEO, under his assistance the company gained international success. Dan is responsible for the related games made by the same company, including ‘’Band Hero’’ and ‘’DJ Hero’’ released in 2009, both of which received positive reviews and were big financial successes.

In 2010, Rosenweig joined Chegg, an American online book rental company, as CEO, and was responsible for taking care of the overall business operations and management. The company was progressing well during that time, being an innovative way of book rental.

In his personal life, Rosensweig is married to Linda, and they have two daughters. Today, he is widely recognized for his charity work; in particular, Dan is a member of DonorsChoose, an organization focused on providing schools with necessities.
