Person attended Brantley High School in Brantley, Alabama, and having finished with his high school education, Chuck enrolled into Auburn University, where he played for the basketball team, becoming the most prolific player in the university’s history to this day. His field performance helped his team get into the NCAA Tournament three times, and in 1985, his team won the SEC Tournament resulting in Chuck being named the Tournament MVP. Besides that, he was a participant of the Elite Eight in 1986. Nevertheless, Chuck joined the Cleveland Cavaliers’ head coach, John Lucas, serving as an assistant for the 2000–01 NBA season. He was interviewed by the Auburn team for possible employment, but despite positive feedback, didn’t get the job. However, he eventually got the job when he was hired by the Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl, being promoted to the position of the associate head coach in May 2015. In his personal life, Chuck is married to Carmen Person, and has six children and eight grandchildren, and the couple resides in Redondo Beach. On 25 September 2017, Chuck was arrested and accused of six felonies, and as a result of that, was suspended by Auburn.
