Christopher is the fourth child in the family out of eight. He went to John F. Kennedy High School from which he matriculated in 1974, after which he enrolled at San Jose State University, and three years later graduated with a BS degree in criminal justice administration. He furthered his education at the University of California, Hastings, receiving his Juris Doctorate degree in 1980.
In the summer that year he passed the California Bar Exam, but was unemployed for a couple of months, before finding a job at the National Labor Relations Board in Los Angeles. However, he wasn’t quite satisfied with his position and work on the whole, and soon applied to join the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He was assigned to the Huntington Park office, but was soon transferred to Beverly Hills, and eventually to the Criminal Courts Building, located in downtown Los Angeles in 1983.

Then in 1988, he was transferred to the Special Investigation Division (SID), which is focused on investigating criminal activities by public and law enforcement officials. Simpson murder case by Deputy District Attorneys William Hodgman and Marcia Clark, initially serving as the lead prosecutor for the hearing of Al Cowlings, but was later made co-prosecutor for the whole case.
