Who is Ebru Şahin?
Turkish actress Ebru Şahin Osman was born in Istanbul, Turkey, on 18 May 1994, making her zodiac sign Taurus. She’s appeared in nine movies and TV series, and is perhaps best known for her playing of the lead character Reyyan Sadoglu in the popular romantic series “Hercai”, which also starred Akin Akinozu and Ayda Aksel, and follows Miran who’s planning to use the girl Reyyan as a tool for avenging his parents’ death, but has now fallen in love with her. The series won eight of its 27 award nominations.
Ebru’s also known for being the wife of famous Turkish professional basketball player Cedi Osman, who’s today playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Education and early life
Ebru was raised in Istanbul by her Turkish parents about whom she hasn’t spoken in public, as she’s respective of their privacy; it’s widely believed that her father’s a pub owner, and her mother a housewife. Ebru hasn’t spoken about having siblings, and some of her fans have stated that she’s an only child; she’s very close to her grandmother, who can be seen featured in some of Ebru’s Instagram pictures and videos.
Ebru fell in love with acting at a quite an early age, as she and her mother would watch telenovelas and Turkish series on a daily basis. She began acting in school plays at the age of 16, while attending a local high school in Istanbul, but still remained focused on her studies, wanting to honor her parents’ wishes.
Upon matriculating in 2012, Ebru enrolled at Istanbul University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in sports sciences in 2016.
Roles in movies
Ebru’s debut film appearance was her playing of Nilufer in the hit 2017 drama “Babam”, written and directed by Nihat Durak, and which starred Cetin Tekindor, Melisa Senolsun and Berker Guven. It follows Yusuf who’s the owner of a sardine canning factory, and whose life’s begun falling apart now that his wife has died.
Ebru’s appeared in only two other movies. The year 2018 saw her portray one of the main characters in the drama “Kan Parasi”, directed by Ali Adnan Ozgur, and which also starred Erkan Can and Mutlu Guney; the movie follows the life of a criminal, and it received mostly negative reviews.
In 2019, Ebru played Menekse in the romantic drama “Suursuz Ask”, written and directed by Umut Ertek, and in which she starred alongside Ismail Hacioglu and Burcu Kara. Set in the ‘80s Turkey, the movie follows disabled Yusuf who isn’t interested in politics, but will soon be forced to change his life.
Ebru’s currently shooting for the upcoming movie “Centilmen”, set to be released in 2023.

Roles in TV series
Ebru’s debut TV series role was her playing of Didem in nine 2017 episodes of the action war drama “Savasci”, which starred Murat Serezli, Ali Tarik Findik and Serhat Nalbantoglu, and follows a group of highly educated soldiers as they’re embarking on the most dangerous of missions; it aired from 2017 to 2021, and was nominated for nine awards.
In 2017 and 2018, Ebru played Burcu Selimer in the romantic comedy drama “Istanbullu Gelin”, which starred Ozcan Deniz, Asli Enver and Ipek Bilgin, and follows young and beautiful singer Sureyya who’s just married Faruk Boran, and has begun unraveling his family’s secrets; the series won five of its eight award nominations.
The year 2018 saw her play Hira Bozok in 10 episodes of the romantic drama “Yasak Elma”, which today numbers close to 160 episodes. It stars Sevval Sam, Eda Ece and Baris Aytac, and follows several successful businessmen and businesswomen as they’re struggling to find love; the series has won one of its 21 award nominations.
Ebru’s had only one other TV series role: she portrayed Akkiz in the 2022 historical war action “Destan”, starring alongside Edip Tepeli and Selim Bayraktar. It follows the lives of mountain warrior Akkiz and disabled Prince Batuga, and the series won two of its four award nominations.

Ebru’s won six of the 12 awards for which she’s been nominated. Some of her wins include a 2019 Turkey Leading Brand Award for Best Actress of the Year, a 2020 Turkey Youth Golden Star for Best TV Actress, and a 2020 Golden Palm Award for Best TV Series Actress, all for her performance in “Hercai”.
Love life and husband
Ebru prefers to keep the details of her love life to herself, but it’s still known that she exchanged vows with Cedi Osman on 1 July 2022, in a large ceremony in Istanbul, attended by numerous friends and family members; it’s believed that they had previously been together for three years.
Cedi’s become quite a successful basketball player. He launched his career in 2011, when he was loaned by Anadolu Efes to the Pertevniyal of the Turkish Basketball First League, and was then picked by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2015 NBA Draft; he was soon traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and signed a contract with them on 18 July 2017. The Cavaliers reached the NBA Finals in 2018, but lost to the Golden State Warriors; on 26 October 2019, Cedi extended his contract with the Cavaliers.
Ebru hasn’t mentioned other men whom she’s perhaps dated, as of November 2022 she’s married to Cedi Osman, and doesn’t have children.

One can say that Ebru’s a social media star, as today there are over four million people following her on Instagram, while she’s posted nearly 400 pictures and videos onto the social media network, most of which feature her spending her spare time outdoors.
