Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder was born on 25 December 1952 in Georgetown, (then) British Guiana, and is an actress, best known for appearing in numerous popular television shows including “The Shield”, “Warehouse 13” and “Sons of Anarchy”. She was also part of the James Cameron film “Avatar”, and all of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

In 1982 she moved to Los Angeles, and starred in the film “Bagdad Café”, also taking small roles in several successful films. She later focused on a television career, appearing in popular shows including “Hill Street Blues”, “The X-Files”, Quantum Leap” and “Living Single”. She also appeared in several dramatic television movies, including “Third Degree Burn” and “Leap of Faith”. Her first long term role would be in “ER” from 1994 to 1997, in which she was cast as Dr. Angela Hicks. She then returned to making various guest appearances for shows including “The Practice” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, all of which contributed to her growing net worth.

In 2002, she was cast as Detective Claudette Wyms for the series “The Shield”, thanks to which performance she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. For her personal life, Pounder has been married to Senegalese anthropologist Boubacar Kone since 1970 they had one ceremony in Senegal and another in Los Angeles; the couple now have three children and six grandchildren. Boubacar is known to be the founder of the Musee Boribana in Dakar, Senegal. Pounder is an advocate of post-apartheid awareness as well as HIV issues. She is one of the founders of the Artists for a New South Africa or ANSA.
