Bo Derek Net Worth $50 Million

Firstly, while studying at Narbonne High School she fell in love with actor, director and photographer John Derek, a man who was 30 years senior than the young lady. Derek divorced and together with Mary Cathleen Collins moved to Germany in order to escape from the American statutory rape law as long as his girlfriend at that time was just 16 years old. They got back to America when the girl was 18 and married. While still in Germany, Derek began working on the film in which his future wife was a main star. Due to many nude scenes Derek had doubts about the release and tried to edit it several times. However, the film “Fantasies” (1981) was released only after Bo Derek became famous and was considered a sex symbol.

Bo Derek debuted on the big screen in the film “Orca” (1977) directed by Michael Anderson. Then, she has landed her best role so far in the film “10” (1979). The posters of the film included the lead actress in the swimsuit as a result making her a popular sex symbol of that time. More, critics’ reviews were positive and Derek was nominated for the Golden Globe Award as the Best New Star. Unfortunately, the more roles she created, the worse her acting became. She received poor reviews from critics as well as audiences not liking the films. Bo Derek won the Golden Raspberry Award as the Worst Actress for her roles in the films “Tarzan, the Ape Man” (1981), “Bolero” (1984) and “Ghosts Can’t Do It” (1990). All the above mentioned films were directed by John Derek and produced by Bo Derek. In addition to this, she was nominated for Golden Raspberry Awards as the Worst Supporting Actress for her roles in the films “Tommy Boy” (1995) directed by Peter Segal and “The Master of Disguise” (2002) directed by Perry Andelin Blake.

In addition to all her appearances on the big screen, Bo Derek has landed roles on television, too. Among her appearances are those in episodes of television series “The Drew Carey Show” (1999), “Queen of Swords” (2000), “Queen of Swords” (2001), “7th Heaven” (2003), “CSI:Miami” (2012) and others, she landed the lead role in the telenovela “Fashion House” (2006).

Bo Derek lived together with her husband John Derek until his death in 1998. Since 2002, she has been in a long term relationship with the actor/singer John Corbett.
