Barrett was raised alongside his sister Katie in Youngstown, by their mother Cindy, and their father, whose name is unknown to the public, however, Barrett once talked about him, and said that his father also had a dream of becoming an actor, just as Barrett who has been interested in acting from an early age; he performed in plays in school and his local community, and was persistent in fulfilling his dream.

Barret’s debut on the big screen was his appearance as Tory Hedderman in the movie “The Pledge” in 2011, in which he starred alongside Emily Capehart and Terry Kiser; Tory is a 16-year-old boy who doesn’t care about anyone until he’s ordered to perform community service at a local hospital for the veterans of war; he was punished after vandalizing a town statue which was dedicated to the veterans of World War I, and this experience changed his perspective on the world. The movie had no nominations or awards, however, it had good reviews from the public.
In the next few years, Barrett had supporting roles in the movies “A Christmas Tree Miracle”, “A Matter of Faith”, “The Lonely Clown”, “Linked”, and “The Sub”.

Barrett has been keeping his love life a secret, and hasn’t spoken about any women whom he has been with, with the exception of his fiancé, and now his wife Nina Kubicki, also an actress. For now there is just one credit to her name, for her role as a murder victim in the movie “Sleep”. Barrett and Nina met while they were on a bus, when he took his chance and sat next to her to strike up a conversation, and it seems that it was love at first sight.
