Who is Asake Bomani?

Becoming a celebrity just by being the wife of a famous actor it seems was not enough for the writer Asake Bomani. Although people mostly recognize her as the ex-wife of Danny Glover, she is also known as a renowned author of the book “Paris Connections: African American & Caribbean Artists in Paris”, which brought her an American Book Award in 1993.

She was born under the zodiac sign of Cancer on 7 July 1945, in the USA; her exact birthplace hasn’t been revealed, but Asake holds American nationality and her ethnicity is African-American. Being secretive when it comes to her personal matters, she hasn’t spoken about her childhood, her parents, or any siblings.

It is assumed that she attended a high school in her hometown, then that upon matriculating in 1963 she enrolled at San Francisco State University, from which she graduated with a BA degree in 1967.

An interesting fact about Asake is that she was a jazz singer while she was at college, and Danny once recalled how attractive she was to him because of her high self-esteem and a strong sense of morality.

Asake’s age is 76, and she has no social media accounts, so the only clue to her looks are her photos taken at various red-carpet events that she attended with her ex-husband – she has black hair and brown eyes, but her weight, height, and vital statistics are unavailable at this time.

As of early 2022, Asake’s net worth is conservatively estimated at close to $1 million, due to a lack of information about her earnings, however, according to sources, the divorce settlement brought her a decent amount of money, but the amount hasn’t been revealed, however, her ex-husband has a net worth estimated at $40 million.

Marriage with Danny Glover

Being secretive when it comes to her private life, Asake hasn’t spoken publicly about her marriage with Danny, however, unlike her, he loved to talk about the day when he saw her for the first time. They were attending the same college, and in an interview for Independent, he said: ‘I couldn’t get too many words out. Put me in front of a microphone and you’d get more words out of me.

But I was just blown away by this woman’. Danny waited for her in front of her classroom, and he just said ‘Hi, how are you’, and walked away.

For days, he repeated the same scenario, until one day he was brave enough to call her on a date; they started dating in the early ‘70s, and Asake was the one who supported him the most in his dream to become an actor. Soon after they married in 1975, Danny joined the Black Actors’ Workshop of the American Conservatory Theatre.

The two have one daughter together, Mandisa Glover born on 5 January 1976, who is today a renowned filmmaker.

After nearly 25 years of marriage, on 4 February 1999, Danny filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences, and the divorce was finalized in 2000.
