Although he was born in Marion, Ohio, his family moved to Denver, Colorado when he was only two, and spent there his entire childhood and teen days. He attended Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, and after matriculation he enrolled Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh earning degrees in mechanical engineering, French language and literature, while also receiving a minor in piano. After college he found job at Intel, in its company in Phoenix, Arizona as a mechanical engineer, however in 2002 he moved to Aspen, Colorado, as he wanted to become a mountain climber.

Just a year later, the infamous accident happened; he was hiking alone through Blue John Canyon and ended trapped under a dislodged boulder, where he spent 127 hours; Aron even drank his own urine when he ran out of water. Nevertheless, he managed to free himself, but paid a heavy price, as he had to amputate his own forearm, for which he used a dull pocket knife.

Anyway, Aron returned to his passion, and has been active as a mountaineer ever since he left his job at Intel. To speak of his accomplishments, he has climbed 59 Colorado peaks that are higher than 14,000 feet in 2005, among other achievements.

However, since the accident he has become more of a media personality, appearing as a guest in numerous shows, including “The Today Show”, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, “Saturday Morning”, “American Morning”, among others, which has certainly increased his net worth. He also wrote his autobiography called “Between a Rock and a Hard Place”, which was later made into the movie entitled “127 Hours”, directed by Danny Boyle, with actor James Franco portraying Aron.

Aron has also worked as a motivational speaker, and has given speeches at the Swiss Economic Forum, and at Carnegie Mellon University, among other events which have also increased his net worth.

Regarding his personal life, Aron was married to Jessica Trusty from 2009 until 2011; the couple had one child before divorcing.
