Anthony Padilla is an American YouTuber best known to the world as the co-founder of the comedy sketch channel Smosh, with his childhood friend Ian Hecox. He left Smosh and focused on his solo career in 2017, and has become a star in his own right.

Daniel Anthony Padilla was born on 16 September 1987 under the Virgo zodiac sign, in Sacramento, California USA. He is the son of Leesah and Dan Padilla, who divorced when he was a child; he has two half-siblings from his mother’s previous relationship, Mathew and Brandon, while on his father’s side, he is a half-brother to Heimlich Padilla.

He attended Del Campo High School where he met Ian Hecox, and after matriculating, the two friends enrolled at American River College, but dropped out after two years to focus on a YouTube career.
Career Beginnings
Anthony was interested in the IT world from an early age, and while the two boys were in high school, he created the chat application so the two friends could communicate through the internet after school hours. The application was then turned into a website, and eventually into the eponymous YouTube channel.
Their first video was uploaded in 2005 entitled “Power Rangers Theme”, which shows the two 17-year-olds dancing and imitating moves by the popular actors from TV series. They continued making similar parody videos, such as “Mortal Kombat Theme”, fighting in a funny way, then “The Epic Battle: Jesus vs Cyborg Satan”, and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, among others.
The two friends were turning into a sensation as the YouTube community expanded, and they started attracting like-minded people who wanted to join them.
Rise to Prominence
Gradually, the Smosh channel increased in popularity and soon the duo launched new channels, including ElSmosh and Smosh Games, with the latter being hosted by Mari Takahashi, David Moss, Joshua Ovenshire, and Matthew Sohinki. Anthony remained on the channel until 2017 when he left and started pursuing fame on his own. By then, Smosh and the gang have been through several ups and downs, with Padilla talking about the abuse he suffered by Defy Media, the actual owners of Smosh brand and channel since 2011 when the duo sold it, such as being financially exploited and taking over his Facebook account.
