Anne Murray was born on the 20th June 1945 in Springhill, Nova Scotia Canada, and is a country and pop singer, best known as the first Canadian superstar female singer who paved the way for such singers as Celine Dion, Shania Twain, and Sarah McLachlan. Her career started in 1968, and she retired in 2008.

Morna Anne Murray is a daughter of Marion Margaret, a nurse, and James Carson Murray, a town doctor, and also has five brothers. She later studied at the Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax for a year, before she moved to the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, from where she graduated with a Physical Education degree in 1966.

Anne moved to Toronto, and recorded her debut album “What About Me” in 1968 which wasn’t quite successful, but her second album “This Way Is My Way” (1969) produced the No. 1 single in Canada entitled “Snowbird”, which reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
