An editor, visual effects artist, and an actress with over 20 credits to her name, Zena Lotus Grey was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio on 15 November 1988, in Brooklyn, New York City USA; she holds American nationality and her ethnicity is of mixed English, Irish, Scottish, German and Ashkenazi-Jewish descent. Early life, family, and education
Zena was raised in Brooklyn by her parents as their only child; her father is Alex Grey, a writer, visionary, psychedelic artist and a producer, and her mother is Allyson Grey, also a producer and artist – the two are best known for their 2006 documentary movie “CoSM the Movie: Alex Grey & the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors”.
Being raised in a family of artists, it isn’t surprising that from an early age Zena had an interest in art, performing and acting. Her mother said in her interview for Free Magazine: ‘When Zena was eight months old, she participated in her first performance with us.
In a one-day performance-installation in front of Lincoln Center entitled, “Goddess,” we created the shape of the Venus of Willendorf on the ground with 5,500 apples. Zena nursed in my lap while Alex offered one hundred prostrations at the foot of the Goddess.’
Allyson also said that when Zena was seven years old, she was cast in an off-Broadway musical, and by the time she was nine, she was acting in a Broadway play.
Her mother comes from an Ashkenazi Jewish family, and Zena follows her religion; in one of her interviews, Zena said: ‘, I’m not incredibly spiritual or anything. But, I do pray and stuff like that. We pray at every meal that we have together, which is mainly just dinner. And I usually pray before I go to bed.’
She spoke about her relationship with her parents, saying that their house was always full of love and support, and since her parents are very open-minded, they have celebrated Jewish, Christian, and Pagans holidays, and occasionally went to Buddhist retreats.
Zena attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2006, it’s assumed that she continued her education at one of the US universities, although she hasn’t confirmed this.

Zena launched her acting career making her debut in 2000 at the age of 11, portraying Granddaughter in “The Bone Collector”, alongside Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington, and Queen Latifah.
In the following year, she was cast to play Natalie Brandston in the adventure family comedy “Snow Day”, followed by her role as Katie Parrish in “Summer Catch”, starring Jessica Biel, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Fred Ward.
