Career
Sydel began her volleyball career when she was in high school and played for Carolina Union Volleyball Club. She also played in college championships when she joined Elon University. Unfortunately, Curry was forced to end her career after she was involved in an accident in mid-2017, that left her with a broken knee.
Curry opened her YouTube Channel, A Curry Girl, on 15 July 2017 and has so far garnered over 100,000 subscribers. She posts videos related to fashion, beauty and lifestyle, having uploaded her first, “Q&A with Sydel Curry | SYDEL CURRY,” on 24 October 2017 but it didn’t attract a lot of attention. Sydel is seemingly happily married to Damion Lee, who plays for the NBA team Phoenix Suns. The two met in college during a basketball game in 2013, began dating in 2016, and walked the aisle in September 2018. Their wedding ceremony was held at the famous upscale hotel, Charlotte Marriott City Center, in presence of family and friends, and they documented the memorable occasion on their respective social media accounts – her nieces, Riley and Ryan were the flower girls while the groomsmen were her brothers. Damion was born on 21 October 1992, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Michelle Riddick and Dean Lee. He attended Calvert Hall College High, and played basketball for the school’s team. He transferred to the Oakdale-based St Thomas More High School, where he played in the 2010-2011 season, and led his school team to the National Prep School Championship. He was thereafter enrolled at Drexel University in 2011, joined the Drexel Dragons Basketball team, and averaged 4.4 rebounds and 12 points in the 2011-12 season, which saw him crowned the Rookie of the Year by the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). In the season that followed, he led his squad to the third position.
