Duke is an American rapper, probably best known to the world for his songs “Crunk Ain’t Dead”, “Kirk”, and “Yeh” among others.

Duke Deuce was born Patavious Lashum Ison on 1 May 1992, in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. His father, Duke Nitty, is also a rapper, while there is no information on his mother’s name, but he was raised by her since his parents never married, and his father was rather abusive toward her. He talked about his upbringing in an interview with DJ Smallz Eyes. Although his father wasn’t that good of a partner, he influenced Duke toward a career in music, and has helped him a lot throughout his career; the two have worked on whole albums together.
He grew up in Whitehaven and went to Fairley High School. Upon matriculation, he didn’t enroll in any college, as he focused on his music career.
Growing up in a musically inclined family, he took an interest in music from an early age, and made his first beats at just six years old. He would spend a lot of time with his father in the studio, and right upon matriculation, turned to music full-time.
Career Beginnings
He grew up listening to Memphis rap acts such as 8Ball, Three 6 Mafi, and others, and in 2016, he released his debut mixtape, “Deuce Live Music”, then in 2018, he released the song “Whole Lotta” in the style of these popular rappers.
The song became viral once he made the music video with catchy dance moves, and thanks to the unforgettable beats and dance moves, the song was used by the Atlanta-based dance crew SheLovesMeechie. This further caught the eyes of Offset, one of the rappers of the group Migos.
He recruited the young Memphis rising star and signed him to the Quality Control record label. His first release for the label was the mixtape “Memphis Massacre”, which came out on 7 September 2018, and spawned such hits as “No Smoke”, “Chosen” and “Hits”, among others.
Rise to Prominence
Duke rose to stardom quickly upon the release of the song “Yeh”, which became an instant hit, The song was then remixed by Lil Jon, Juicy J, and Project Pat, which only further increased his popularity.
His second mixtape, “Memphis Massacre 2” for Quality Control, came out on 19 February 2020, and spawned such hits as “BHZ”, “Crunk Ain’t Dead”, and “Feel Like It”, among several others. Some of the names that appear on the mixtape include Juicy J, Lil Thad, Lil Jon and Lil Yachty, among others.
After collaborating with several other famous rappers, Duke Deuce released his debut full-length album, “Duke Nukem” on 26 February 2021, which landed on the No. 3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. Some of the popular songs from the album include “Soldiers Steppin”, “Spin”, “Kirk”, and “Army”, among others, and the album saw names such as Offset, Young Dolph, Foogiano, Lil Keed, Mulatto, and others, with whom Duke had worked.
His continued success inspired him to work on new music. A year and a half following his debut full-length release, Duke’s second studio album, “Crunkstar” came out. He talked about the album, saying that it’s a step forward in his career, as he tries to experiment with the sound as much as he can. He worked with a number of musicians and producers on the album, and has added elements of rock to it.

The album spawned some famous songs, including “I Ain’t Worried About It”, “Just Say That” which is a collaboration with Gorilla, and “Running Out of Love”, a duet with Dante Smith.
Following the release of the album, he announced the Crunkstar tour, which started on 10 August at Rolling Loud Miami 22’ event. He toured across the US, performing in various cities with such rappers as Offset, Juicy J. and Drake, among others, which only increased his popularity and wealth.
Although “Crunkstar” came out in June 2022 and he toured in August, his latest album, “Memphis Massacre III” was released on 28 October 2022. He worked with Kitkidd and Ayoza, and even his father, Duke Nitty, helped produce the album, while some of the names that appear on the album are Juicy J, K-Rock, Scanman, MC Mack, ATM Richbaby, and others. It spawned such hits as “Mr. Memphis Massacre”, “Deucifer”, “Buck The System”, and “Runnin’ Lip”.
Most recently, he worked with Juicy J on the song “Step Back”.
