Who is Ramona Young?
Ramona Abish Young was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 8 August 1998 (some sources state on 23 May) – her zodiac sign is Leo, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress, film writer and producer, with more than 30 acting credits to her name, while she’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of Eleanor Wong in the comedy series “Never Have I Ever”, created by Lang Fisher and Mindy Kaling, and which stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan and Darren Barnet. It follows the life of an Indian-American teenage girl, the series has been airing since 2020, and has won five of the 17 awards for which it’s been nominated.
Early life and education
Ramona was raised in both Los Angeles and Hong Kong, which is her parents’ hometown; she was eight when she finally settled in Los Angeles. She hasn’t revealed many details about her family, except that her father’s a professor and psychologist, and that her mother’s in the US Navy; Ramona’s also shared that her grandmother sold clothes in the street, and that her grandfather was a doctor.
She became interested in acting at a very early age, and was 12 when she made her debut film appearance, playing Eve in the short adventure comedy “Specter”.
Ramona then went on to act throughout her entire education. She studied at a local high school, from which she matriculated in 2016, and then enrolled at California State University, Los Angeles, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2020.
She practiced acting at Playhouse West.
Roles in TV series
Ramona made her debut TV series appearance in the 2012 episode “A Little Respect” of the comedy “This Indie Thing”, and the year 2014 saw her play Geeky Girl in the episode “Cookie Prom” of the comedy “Super Fun Night”.
She gained recognition in 2017, when cast to play Robin in the popular romantic fantasy comedy “Man Seeking Woman”, created by Simon Rich, and which starred Jay Baruchel, Eric Andre and Britt Lower. It follows a naïve romantic who’s searching for the love of his life; the series aired from 2015 to 2017 and won one of the three awards for which it was nominated.
Ramona’s also known for her portrayal of Allison in the 2017 musical comedy drama “The Real O’Neals”, created by Casey Johnson and Joshua Sternin, and which starred Martha Plimpton, Jay R. Ferguson and Noah Galvin. It follows a young boy who’s just told his parents that he’s gay, and the series won one of the six awards for which it was nominated, including a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Choreography.
Three of Ramona’s most recent roles have been in 16 episodes of the action comedy drama “Z Nation” between 2016 and 2018, six episodes of the horror comedy “Santa Clarita Diet” from 2017 to 2019, and 17 episodes of the action adventure drama “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” from 2018 to 2020.

Ramona played Missy Tollegs in the 2015 comedy “Twelve”, and a couple of her following roles were in the short drama “Wanderers” and the short fantasy drama “Reflections” both in 2015, and the 2016 short romantic drama “Star-Crossed”.
2016 also saw her play Adele in the action horror drama “The Thinning”, written and directed by Michael J. Gallagher, and which starred Logan Paul, Peyton List and Lia Marie Johnson. Set in the far future, the movie follows two students who’ve found out that the tests which are supposed to determine their destiny are faulty; it was nominated for seven awards.
Ramona’s also popular for her portrayal of Angelica in the 2018 comedy “Blockers”, directed by Kay Cannon, and which starred Leslie Mann, John Cena and Ike Barinholtz. It follows three parents as they’re trying to prevent their daughters from losing virginity on prom night; the movie won one of the seven awards for which it was nominated.

She has four writing, three producing and a single directing credit: Ramona wrote the 2015 short fantasy movie “Reflections”, the 2016 short romantic film “Star-Crossed”, and the 2018 short movie “Bottomland”, while she’s currently writing, producing and directing the upcoming short film “Live Exit Here”.
She made a guest appearance in a 2017 episode of the talk-show “Red Carpet Report”, and competed in a 2022 episode of the game-show “Celebrity Family Feud”.
