She’s had roles in more than 50 movies and TV series, and is perhaps still best known for her portrayal of the main character Sally Albright in the 1989 romantic comedy movie “When Harry Met Sally…”, which Ron Reiner directed, and which also starred Carrie Fisher and Billy Crystal. Meg was raised in Fairfield alongside her sisters Annie and Dana, by their American mother Susan Jordan (nee Duggan) who was an English language teacher and actress, and Polish father Harry Hyra who was a math teacher; Susan and Harry divorced in 1976. Meg studied at St. Pius X Elementary School prior to progressing to Bethel High School, from which she matriculated in 1979.
She then enrolled at the University of Connecticut in pursuit of a degree in journalism; Meg eventually transferred to New York University, but dropped out to pursue an acting career.
It was in 1981 that she made her debut film appearance, playing Debby – Age 18 in the drama “Rich and Famous”, and the following year saw Meg make her debut TV series appearance, playing Jane in the pilot episode of the comedy “One of the Boys”.
