Who is Lauren Ambrose?

American actress and singer Lauren Anne D’Ambruoso was born in New Haven, Connecticut USA. on 20 February 1978, making her zodiac sign Pisces. She’s had roles in nearly 50 movies and TV series, but is probably still best known for her playing of Claire Fisher in the popular comedy series “Six Feet Under”, created by Alan Ball, and which starred Peter Krause, Michael C. Hall and Frances Conroy. It follows a dysfunctional family as they’re running a funeral home in Los Angeles, California; the series aired from 2001 to 2005, and won 70 of its 236 award nominations.

Education and early life

Lauren was raised in New Haven alongside her brother John, by their mother Anne (nee Wachtel) who was an interior designer, and father Frank D’Ambruoso who was a caterer; Frank’s of Italian descent, while Anne’s of German and British ancestry.

Lauren fell in love with acting while still attending a local elementary school, and was 14 when she made her debut TV series appearance, playing Jessica in the 1992 episode “Skin Deep” of the mystery crime drama “Law & Order”, while the following year saw her play Maureen McKinnon in its episode “Pride and Joy”.

She studied at Choate Rosemary Hall prior to progressing to Wilbur Cross High School, from which she eventually transferred to ACES Education Center for the Arts; Lauren matriculated in 1996, and then enrolled at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2000, having also studied opera singing at Tanglewood.

In 2011, Lauren played Jilly Kitzinger in seven episodes of the popular mystery action drama “Torchwood”, and she was then cast to play and voice characters in an episode or two of the mystery science fiction mini-series “Coma”, the short animated adventure “Robot Chicken” (voice role), and the mystery crime drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.

The year 2015 saw her play Debbie Morgan in the popular mystery thriller mini-series “Dig”, created by Tim Kring and Gideon Raff, and which starred Jason Isaacs, Anne Heche and Ori Pfeffer; it follows an FBI agent who’s investigating a murder in Jerusalem.
