Who is Hallie Jackson?
A reporter, journalist, anchor, and current correspondent for National Broadcasting System (NBC) News, Hallie Jackson rose to prominence with her coverage of the Republican presidential primary battle in 2016. She was one of the rare journalists who scored interviews with Grand Old Party (GOP) candidates including Senator Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Senator Marco Rubio, and Donald Trump.

Early life, family, and education
Hallie Marie Jackson was born in Ohio, USA, on 29 April 1984, but she was raised in Yardley, Pennsylvania by her parents David and Heidi Jackson; she hasn’t shared any info about their profession, but if we can judge by her Instagram posts, it seems that she is very close to thems. Recently, she shared a photo from their wedding day, with a description saying how much she loves them.
Since Hallie hasn’t spoken about any siblings, many people assumed that she is her parent’s only child, however, Hallie has a sister, who prefers to keep her life away from the public eye, although Hallie once shared their joint photo when they were young girls, wishing her happy National Siblings Day.
Speaking of her educational background, she attended Pennsbury High School, in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. Upon her matriculation in 2002, she enrolled at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, from which Hallie graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, in 2006 – a Phi Beta Kappa graduate means that a person has won a high scholastic award at a college or university.
In May 2020, Hallie was invited to the university’s commencement ceremony, and other notable guests were Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of the social media site Reddit, and Michael Rubens Bloomberg, a former New York City Mayor.

Career
Following her graduation, Hallie began serving as a reporter for WBOC-TV, an affiliate of Fox and Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS), in Salisbury, Maryland. She also worked in Dover, Delaware before her departure to Connecticut and cities Hartford and New Haven in 2008, where until 2012, she served as reporter and weekend anchor for WFSB-TV, also an affiliate of CBS.
Then in 2014, she began working as a national correspondent for Hearst Television, in Washington DC. After two years, Hallie become a correspondent for NBC News, and her reports appeared across all NBC and Microsoft/National Broadcasting Company (MSNBC) platforms.
In 2017, she was named Chief White House correspondent for NBC, and she also served as a fill-in anchor for “Today”. In 2019, Hallie was a member of the crew that won the 2019 Hillman Prize for Broadcast Journalism for their coverage of the Trump administration’s ‘zero tolerance’ for anybody unlawfully crossing the border.
In recognition of the organization’s partnership with the National Women’s History Museum, Hallie was named one of 19 ‘Phi Mu History Makers”.
On 17 November 2021, she began hosting “Hallie Jackson NOW” on NBC News’ streaming channel, covering various themes, and breaking news.
Many of her fans didn’t know that she made an appearance as Nana in the 2018 movie “Goosebumps 2: Slappy’s Revenge”, based on the novel “The Scholastic Goosebumps Books” written by R. L. Stine.

Husband and Divorce
Although Hallie prefers to keep her private life away from the public eye, it is known that in 2011 she married Doug Hitchner. Despite our efforts, we couldn’t find out more information about him, except that he also attended Johns Hopkins University, and that he played for the baseball team. After graduating, he began working as a baseball coach for the college team.
It is assumed that Hallie and Doug met at college, but it is unrevealed how long they dated before they tied the knot.
Some reports were saying that they have two daughters together, however, this isn’t true. They didn’t have children together, and also they haven’t shared the reason for their divorce. It isn’t clear when Doug and Hallie separated, but it’s known that they ended their marriage, although they haven’t revealed when the divorce was finalized.

New partner and motherhood
In early 2016, Hallie began a relationship with Frank Thorp, an off-air reporter, producer and photographer, who is covering Congress for NBC News. Frank was born on 31 May 1984, and is a West Virginia University graduate. He also studied abroad at the Aalborg University in Denmark, and at the Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
They publicized their relationship through their Instagram accounts in May 2016, after which Hallie often shared their joint photos featuring their traveling and everyday life, citing Frank as ‘her favorite person’.

The two have been living together for a couple of years now, and on 9 March 2020, they welcomed their daughter, Monroe. Jokingly, Hallie said that her Instagram is now Monroe’s, and she shares her photos almost daily. There are dozens of photos featuring their daughter and her partner, and Frank got a new nickname-‘absolute dad jackpot’.
In her interview for Motherly, Hallie spoke about raising her daughter at a time when the world was ‘shut down’ due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Among other things, she said that the hardest part was that Monroe spent her first year without her grandparents, although they used Zoom calls every day.
Hallie was part of the NBC News report on pandemic moms, entitled “Covid One Year Later: Life After Lockdown”, and spoke about her personal experience.
