Who is David Iacono?

American actor, model and social media personality David Iacono was born in Brooklyn, New York City USA on 20 June 2002, making Gemini his zodiac sign. He’s appeared in 21 TV series and movies, and is probably known best for playing Cam in the critically acclaimed romantic series “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, based on the eponymous book by Jenny Han, and which stars Rachel Blanchard, Jackie Chung and Lola Tung. The series has been airing since 2022, and follows two brothers who are in love with the same girl.

Education and early life

David and his sister Kayla were raised in Brooklyn by their mother Kim Iacono, who’s a mammography technologist, and their union carpenter father whose name hasn’t been disclosed; the family’s deeply religious, and they go to church at least once a week.

David fell in love with acting around the same time when he enrolled at St Patrick School, and was nine when he made his debut film appearance, playing Jake in the 2011 crime horror “Choose”, directed by Marcus Graves, and which starred Katheryn Winnick, Kevin Pollak and Nicholas Tucci. It follows a journalism student and her detective father as they’re trying to catch a serial killer.

David’s since been active in the film industry, but still chose to also remain focused on his studies; he attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Performing Arts, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2020, while he then began honing his skills at an acting school.

Roles in movies

David portrayed Jeremiah in the hit 2014 comedy “St. Vincent”, written and directed by Theodore Melfi, and which starred Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy and Naomi Watts; it follows a young boy who’s befriended his next-door war veteran neighbor, and the movie won seven of its 30 award nominations.

David’s following role was playing one of the main characters Miguel in the 2016 crime action “The Pastor”, written and directed by Deborah Goodwin, and which also starred Ismael Cruz Cordova and Victoria Cartagena. It follows a former gang leader who turned to faith while in jail, and has now become a pastor.

David’s had only one other film role: he played Flirting Man on the Bus in the critically acclaimed 2019 crime thriller “Joker”, which Todd Phillips wrote and directed, and which starred Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro and Joaquin Phoenix. It follows the life of Arthur Fleck before he became the villain Joker, and the movie won 124 of its 361 award nominations, including two Oscar wins for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Joaquin Phoenix).

David’s recently been cast to appear in three upcoming movies: “Hungry”, “Cinnamon” and “Helvellyn Edge”.

Roles in TV series

David’s debut TV series role was playing Bryce in the 2015 episode “Harry” of the drama “The Slap”, created by Jon Robin Baitz and Walter F. Parkes, and which starred Brian Cox, Melissa George and Lucas Hedges. It follows a family which has begun falling apart because the man has slapped another couple’s child, and the series was nominated for three awards.

David could then have been seen appearing in an episode of a couple of series, including the historical drama “Show Me a Hero”, the crime action “The Blacklist: Redemption” and another crime action “NCIS: New Orleans”.

In 2018, he played Jalen Pagan in the episode “Cavitation” of the popular drama “New Amsterdam”, which starred Jocko Sims, Janet Montgomery and Ryan Eggold, and follows the life of a new medical director of the America’s oldest public hospital. The series aired from 2018 through 2023 and won five of its nine award nominations.

David was then cast to play Teen in the 2019 episode “La Pulga” of the comedy “Alternatino with Arturo Castro”, Ryan in the 2020 episode “Mutations” of the drama “The Good Doctor” and Jake Miller in the 2020 episode “Everything is v Depressing rn” of the comedy “Social Distance”.

In 2020, he portrayed Bo Orlov in six episodes of the drama “Grand Army”, created by Katie Cappiello, and which starred Odessa A’zion, Odley Jean and Amir Bageria. It follows the lives of six high school students, and the series won one of its three award nominations.

David’s three most recent TV series roles have been in two episodes of the 2021 crime mystery “Hightown”, eight episodes of the 2022 mystery comedy “The Flight Attendant” and three episodes of the 2022 crime thriller “City on a Hill”; he’s currently shooting for the upcoming series “Dead Boy Detectives” and “Hot Pink”.

Some of the talk-shows in which David’s made a guest appearance include “The Daily Show”, “What Would You Do?” and “In Creative Company”.

Love life and relationships

David avoids speaking about his love life in public, and doesn’t answer questions related to it in interviews; this has made some of his fans to wonder if he’s perhaps gay, and if this is why he hasn’t mentioned any girls whom he’s dated.

Some of David’s fans believe that he’s today in a relationship with an American non-celebrity boy, while two people on the internet have even claimed to have seen David and his boyfriend being rather too close at a club in Los Angeles, California but David’s yet to address these rumors.

There are also some who believe that he might be in a relationship with actress Lola Tung, who’s starring alongside him in the series “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, but this hasn’t been confirmed either.

David seems to be unattached as of March 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

He’s become passionate about travelling, and his acting career’s already taken him to more than 10 US states, as well as to a couple of European countries; David’s dream travel destination’s Kyoto, Japan.

David enjoys listening to various music genres, and his favorites are rock ‘n’ roll, pop and blues; his favorite band is Nirvana.

He has his own favorite actor and actress, Tom Holland and Zendaya, while some of his favorite films are “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and “Uncharted”.
