Who is Chiquis Rivera?
A television personality, writer, actress, and singer-songwriter, Chiqius Rivera rose to prominence in 2014, when she released a tribute song “Paloma Blanca” (“White Dove” in English), as an honor to her late mother, famous American-Mexican singer Jenna Rivera.

Early life, family, and education
Chiquis’ birth name is Janney Marin Rivera, and she was born on 26 June 1985, in Los Angeles, California USA; she holds American nationality but she comes from a family of Mexican descent on both parents’ sides. She is the eldest of her two siblings, Jacquie and Mikey, and she has two half-siblings, from her mother’s marriage with Juan Lopez, her second husband.
As mentioned, her mother is Dolores Janney Rivera Saavedra, better known by her stage name, Jenni Rivera, who was labeled as one of the most important Latin artists – she died in a plane crash on 9 December 2012, near Monterrey, Mexico.
Unfortunately, Chiquis and Jenni didn’t have a good relationship since a couple of months before her death, Jenni accused her daughter of having an affair with her then-husband, Esteban Loaiza, which Chiquis denied later in one of her interviews.
Jenni’s death wasn’t the first tragedy to befall this family. In 1997, Chiquis’ aunt, Jenni’s younger sister Rosie Rivera, came to Jenni and told her about the sexual abuse she was experiencing and accused Jenni’s first husband, Jose Trinidad Marin. Rosie told Jenni that Jose is now doing the same thing to their daughters, Chiquis and Jacquie.
Physical examination showed that the girls were molested and the case was opened immediately, however, Jose Trinidad Marin escaped, and was eventually caught after nine years, when he was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison. It hasn’t been revealed does Chiquis has any relationship with her father.
Speaking of her education, Chiquis matriculated from high school, but is now a spokesperson for a private college in California, advising young girls on the importance of education.

Rise to stardom
Chiquis made her musical debut in 2015 at Premios Juventud, an award show for Spanish celebrities, performing her song “Esa No Soy No”. In the same year, she made her acting debut portraying Lola in the movie “Tattooed Love”, written and directed by Alejandro Antonio and Alberto Portillo.
Chiquis published her first book, the New York Times bestseller entitled “Forgiveness” in April 2015, and in June of that same year, released her debut album – “Ahora”.
In 2015, she was nominated for the Lo Nuestro Award for Regional Mexican: Female Artist of the Year, which she subsequently won in 2016 and ’17.
In 2018, her second album, “Entre Botellas” was also well accepted by the public, and featured a duet sung with her mother, however, her third album, “Playlist” brought her not just international fame, but in 2020 also her first Latin Grammy Award for Best Banda Album.
Her musical style, so-called banda, is a form of traditional Mexican music, originally from the state of Sinaloa.
On 8 February 2022, Chiquis released her second book entitled “Unstoppable: How I Found My Strength Through Love and Loss”, which among other things features her struggle after her mother’s death, when she had to balance between being a parent to her younger siblings, and her wish to follow her mother’s footsteps and become a singer.

When it comes to her television appearances, Chiquis was featured in the reality series “The Riveras”, for which she also an executive producer – the show followed the lives of the family, and was labeled as very entertaining and relatable.

The two married on 29 June 2019, in Pasadena, California, and Chiquis became stepmother to Lorenzo’s daughter from his previous marriage. They don’t have children together.
In 2020, the couple celebrated their first Valentine’s Day as newlyweds, however, in September 2020, they decided to separate, and announced that this difficult decision was joint. Some rumors were saying that the reason for their divorce was Lorenzo’s infidelity, however, Chiquis claimed in her second book that Lorenzo had aggression issues, and was a drug addict, who once spat in her face and grabbed her by the neck.
As of October 2022, it seems that Chiquis is single.

Chiquis is 37 years old and is someone who takes her look seriously. She dyed her naturally brown hair blonde which, according to her fans, perfectly matches her dark hazel eyes.
