Who is Aristotle Athari?
American stand-up comedian and actor Aristotle Athari was born in Plano, Texas USA, on 28 July 1991, so Leo’s his zodiac sign. He’s appeared in more than 20 movies and TV series, abut is perhaps known best for directing three episodes of the popular 2017 comedy series “How to Be Broke”, created by Biniam Bizuneh, who also starred in it alongside Teddy Ray and Chris Estrada. The series follows a man who’s pretending to be rich on social media networks, but it failed to attract a lot of attention.
Education and early life
Aristotle was raised in Plano by his parents of Iranian descent, but he’s rarely spoken about them in public; it’s known that his mother Azizeh Athari was a famous athlete and volleyball coach, but died from multiple sclerosis on 18 September 2019.
Aristotle became interested in comedy while attending a local elementary school, as he was the class clown and enjoyed making his peers laugh. He enrolled at high school in 2005, and in the following year joined its drama club, appearing in nearly all of the plays performed at the school. Aristotle was 17 when he made his debut film appearance, playing the main character Twon in the comedy movie “Hanging in Hedo”, written and directed by Gregg Cannizzaro, and which also starred Traci Bingham and Stephanie Brown; it follows a real estate mogul who’s trying to reconnect with his estranged father.
Aristotle matriculated in 2009 and then enrolled at University of Southern California, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2013.
Roles in movies
In 2010, Aristotle starred as Art in the short comedy “Iraqi Tron”, and the following year saw him star as Doctor in the short comedy “T. G. I. H. I. V.”; he appeared in a number of short films in the following a couple of years, such as the 2012 comedies “Writers’ Room: Zou Bisou Bisou” and “Spreadsheets”, and the 2013 comedy “Good Son”.
The year 2016 saw him play Donovan in the crime comedy “Funny Man”, written and directed by Omri Dorano, and which starred Cameron Blunt, Karen Ann Cabrera and Joe May. It follows a former comedian who’s trying to find a bicycle that was stolen from him when he was a child.
In 2018, Aristotle starred alongside Fahim Anwar, Asif Ali and Hasan Minhaj in the comedy “Goatface”, which features the four comedians performing a series of sketches. Aristotle’s also known for starring as Dan in the 2021 short thriller “No Good Dead”, alongside Stevie Lynn Jones and Mike Langer, but he’s since appeared in only a single movie: he played the main character Max in the 2023 romantic science fiction comedy “Molli and Max in the Future”, written and directed by Michael Lukk Litwak, and which also starred Zosia Mamet and Erin Darke. It follows two people who keep meeting while travelling around the universe, and the film won an SXSW Film Festival Adam Yauch Hornblower Award.
Aristotle’s currently shooting for two upcoming movies: “The French Italian” and “R. A. E. R. Beta 0027”.
Roles in TV series
Aristotle’s debut TV series role was playing Derrick in 15 episodes of the 2019 mystery “Coop”, which stared Jen Tullock, Oliver Cooper and Brian Huskey, and follows a group of people as they’re trying to catch their friend Ryan’s murderer.
Also in 2019, Aristotle played Gabe in the critically acclaimed comedy “Silicon Valley”, which Mike Judge and John Altschuler created, and which starred Josh Brenner, T. J. Miller and Thomas Middleditch. It follows the life of engineer Richard Hendricks who’s trying to launch his own company Pied Piper; the series aired from 2014 through 2019 and won 18 of its 117 award nominations.
In 2021, Aristotle played Farbod in the comedy mini-series “3 Month Fiancé”, which parodies the reality show “90 Day Fiancé”, and the year 2021 saw him appear in 18 episodes of the critically acclaimed comedy show “Saturday Night Live”.

Most recently, in 2022, Aristotle voiced a supporting character in the crime fantasy comedy “Batman: The Audio Adventures”, which follows Batman as he’s trying to become a Gotham employee, thus severing his bond with Catwoman; the series has been airing since 2021, and has won three of its five award nominations.
Other credits
Aristotle’s worked as a cinematographer on 12 movies, most recently on the 2013 short comedies “Dance Crew” and “Good Son”, and the 2014 short romantic comedy “Last Night”.
He has 29 directing credits, with some of the most popular movies which he’s directed being the 2017 short comedy “Welcome to America”, the 2018 comedy “Goatface”, and the 2021 comedy “Whiskey Fists”.
Love life and wife
Aristotle avoids sharing the details of his love life with his fans, however, it’s known that he married American actress and photographer Maura Grace Athari in September 2021, in a private ceremony attended by the closest of their friends and family members.
Maura has seven acting credits and is perhaps known best for her appearances in the 2011 short film “Frequent Flyers”, the 2022 fantasy horror series “Interview with the Vampire” and the 2023 romantic science fiction comedy movie “Molli and Max in the Future”.
Aristotle and Maura have no children together, and this is believed to be because they’re currently focused on their careers in the film industry.
