Who is That Vegan Teacher?

Canadian social media star, YouTuber and animal rights activist Kadie Karen Diekmeyer – aka That Vegan Teacher – was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, under the zodiac sign Libra on 24 September 1964. She’s today perhaps known best for her presence on the internet, including her YouTube channel “That Vegan Teacher”, which she launched on 21 July 2018, and which today numbers close to 230,000 subscribers. She’s posted nearly 2,600 videos, and all of these together number more than 83 million views, while most feature her teaching her fans about veganism, talking about politics and covering various other topics.

Prior to launching her career on the internet, Vegan Teacher spent 25 years working as a nurse at the Lakeshore General Hospital, and then as an English language teacher at a local high school; she quit the job with the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Vegan Teacher was raised in Montreal by her Canadian parents of Swiss and German descent; she hasn’t shared many details about them but it’s believed that her mother was a cleaning lady and her father a high school teacher. As Vegan Teacher hasn’t spoken about her siblings, most of her fans believe that she doesn’t have any.

She studied at a local high school in Montreal and was passionate about numerous activities during her teenage years as she often volunteered at a local animal shelter, took creative writing lessons and practiced ice skating. Vegan Teacher matriculated in 1983 and then enrolled at Concordia University, wanting to become a nurse; she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1987 and then continued her education, earning a Master’s degree in 1989.

She eventually also took and passed a course necessary for becoming a teacher of English language.

Vegan Teacher’s tweeted only 30 times since the creation of her Twitter account in June 2020, so there are only a few over 500 people following her on this network; her most recent update was on 1 October 2020, when she re-tweeted a post by Go Vegan.

She’s quite popular on TikTok, as close to 300,000 people are following her today, while she’s amassed over 1.8 million likes of all her videos combined; most of these feature her preparing food, dancing to her favorite songs and talking about being vegan.

Vegan Teacher’s also active on Facebook, and her page today numbers nearly 3,500 followers, while all her posts combined have amassed more than 2,200 likes; her most recent update was on 18 November 2023, when she posted a video about what people might not know about cows.

Husband and children

Vegan Teacher’s married twice, and it’s also known that she’s bisexual. Her first husband was Canadian non-celebrity Dave Hobson; they exchanged vows in 1988, she gave birth to their three children, but their divorce was finalized in 2021. Vegan Teacher and Dave had separated sometime in the 2000s but chose not to bother with the divorce; they only went along with it after Vegan Teacher decided to marry her partner of 10 years, Italian non-celebrity man Giorgio Benetti on 4 December 2021.

The two initially lived in the US, but moved to Italy in April 2023, where they’ve since been living.

There are no other men whom Vegan Teacher’s perhaps been with, that we know about; she’s married to her second husband Giorgio Benetti as of December 2023 and has three children with her first husband Dave Hobson.
