Who is Ginny Cha?
Known primarily for having been married to the retired National Football League (NFL) player Tiki Barber, Ginny Cha is a former celebrity spouse born of Korean and Vietnamese descent in the USA in 1975. Personal Life
Ginny and Tiki were university sweethearts who married relatively young on 15th May 1999. In an unorthodox move, Ginny moved her parents into a suite of Tiki’s Upper East Side apartment – at the time, the NFL player’s (now ex-) wife was working as a fashion publicist for Zegna, but has also described herself as a “traditionalist” who liked to take care of her then-husband.
The couple welcomed their first child, Atiim Kiambu Junior (A.J) on 8th July 2002, who was followed by his younger brother Chason on 18th March 2004. Despite shying away from the celebrity lifestyle, Ginny could often be seen supporting her husband at events and football games, and fans believed that the couple had an idyllic marriage. However, things ended on a sour note for the pair, when they announced their separation in April 2010 after over a decade of marriage. Later on, the public discovered that Tiki had begun a torrid romance with Traci Lynn Johnson, an NBC intern whom he met while working on the “Today” show.
Traci, who would babysit Tiki and Ginny’s sons while engaging in the clandestine affair, was vilified by the public. Giving birth to twin daughters Riley and Ella less than two months after the separation on 24th May 2010, Ginny refused to tell her side of the story, and has maintained a dignified silence ever since, despite salacious headlines such as “Tiki Barber dumps pregnant wife for hot blonde”, although it’s believed that her friends spoke to media outlets on her behalf.
Affair Scandal
Traci and Tiki were photographed together for the first time in March 2010, when they attended a documentary screening in Washington, DC.
A source close to the Barber family also told the New York Post that the two had flown to Senegal in late 2009 while the documentary was being filmed; at the time, Ginny was three months pregnant. The same source also claimed that the former intern flew out to Vancouver in 2009 while Tiki was blogging about the Winter Olympics. Old quotes of Tiki’s in which he spoke about his unfaithful father – “Not only did he abandon [my mother], I felt like he abandoned us for a lot of our lives. I have a hard time forgiving that” – came back to bite him, and he lost a lot of public support as a consequence. The media personality’s 2011 interview with Sports Illustrated, in which he spoke about hiding with Traci in his Jewish agent’s attic, and comparing it to a “reverse Anne Frank” situation, also received backlash.
To provide fans with more insight into his failed marriage with Ginny, Tiki explained that the first cracks began to appear six months after his retirement. According to the sportsman, there were days when he’d “sit on the couch and do nothing for 10 hours”, having lost his confidence and spiraled into depression. Apparently, Traci was the only person who made him feel good. In another interview, the self-described entrepreneur added in an attempt to save face: “We decided to get separated. But Ginny got pregnant in the middle of it… People think children save marriages; sometimes it makes it worse. We split soon after she was pregnant”. The divorce of Ginny and Tiki was finalized on 20th July 2012, with the latter marrying Traci just eight days later in a laidback New York civil ceremony.

Atiim Kiambu “Tiki” Barber was born on 7th April 1975, in Roanoke, Virginia, USA. At the height of his fame, the sportsman enjoyed ten seasons as the running back for the NFL’s New York Giants. Drafted by the Giants in the 1997 NFL Draft’s second round, Tiki’s career began and ended with the same team, after showing promise as a college football player for the University of Virginia. Brought up by his single mother Geraldine with his twin brother Barber, who went on to play cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tiki’s childhood was far from ideal.
The athlete is quoted as saying that the three were “very close” to falling under the poverty line, due to his father’s refusal to pay child support, which led to his mother working three jobs. “She [Geraldine] sacrificed her life for us, it was all about us. She worked at the Girl Scouts, at a flower shop downtown, at the grocery store, the midnight shift. We didn’t struggle because she killed herself”, Tiki explained in an emotional interview. Retiring from the NFL in 2006 as the Giants’ all-time rushing and reception leader, Tiki was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame five years later.

Despite his retirement, the celebrity kept himself busy by working as a correspondent on NBC’s “The Today Show”, and publishing books about his life story. Over the years, fans have also seen plenty of Tiki as a judge on “Chopped” and “Iron Chef America”, a guest judge on “Project Runway”, and on an episode of “Celebrity Family Feud”; he also branched out into acting with a minor role in “Knight Rider”.
