She has two siblings, an older sister, and a younger brother; in the interview for rivetingriffs.com she said that growing up in Nebraska was hard for her family, as they were pretty poor, however, they were happy.
Rebecca had an interest in dance from an early age, wanting to become a ballerina, although she was better at tap dance. An high school she was in choir, and appeared in musical plays, which was her dream come true, to sing and dance at the same time.
She attended Ralston Senior High School in Ralston, Nebraska, and upon matriculating in 1979, enrolled at college in Lincoln. However, during her studies she participated in the beauty pageant for Miss Nebraska USA title and won, then in 1980 in the Miss USA pageant, and placed in the Top 12, all of these events launching her modeling career.
Although she didn’t mean to be a model as she was a straight-A student, she didn’t graduate from college, as one opportunity in modeling lead to another, and she moved to New York, and later to Paris, Milan and Japan pursuing her modeling career, which eventually lead to her acting career.

Rebecca made her acting debut in an episode of the series “Loving” in 1985, in which she portrayed Cecilia Thoompson Sowolsky, followed by her role as Jesse Mathews in the series “Guiding Light”, a romantic drama series that had 450 award nominations and won 106.
In the following years, she made appearances in series such as “Matlock”, “Father Dowling Mysteries”, “Hard Time on Planet Earth” and “Hardball”, she also appeared in two episodes of the series “Mancuso, FBI” in 1990.

In the following year, she was cast to play Daphne Collins in the series “Dark Shadows”, which had six award nominations and won two, including a Primetime Emmy.
Rebecca acted in two episodes of the popular ’90s series “Beverly Hills, 90210” in which she played the character Deidre, followed by minor roles in the series “Cheers”, “Likely Suspects”, “Raven”, “The Wonder Years”, “Seinfeld”, and several others.
