Liam Cunningham was born on 2 June 1961, in East Wall, Dublin, Ireland, one of five children of Michael Cunningham and his wife Kathleen – he has three sisters and a brother.

Liam grew up in Kilmore West, and left school when he was 15 years old, but didn’t start acting until he was in his mid- 20s.
