Born and raised in the small village of Littleback, North Yorkshire, England, Joanne holds British nationality, and comes from a family of hard-working parents, the owners of a sheep farm, Keith and Ann Froggatt. Joanne celebrates her birthday on 23 August, which makes Leo her zodiac sign. Born in 1980, she just turned 42.
Growing up on a farm, Joanne would spend her spare time reading books – her favorite was “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Bronte. In the following years, Joanne had several guest roles before she was cast to play Kate in “Robin Hood”, which was nominated for the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA-Saturn Award for Best International Series in 2009.
From 2010 until 2015, she was seen as Anna Bates/Smith in 52 episodes of “Downton Abbey”, followed by her voice role as Wendy in the popular animated series “Bob the Builder” in 2015.

In February 2020, Joanne said in her interview for the Telegraph, that they had separated – she hasn’t disclosed who filed for the divorce, and what the reason for their separation is. The couple didn’t have children together.
