Who is Alexander Dreymon?

German actor, producer and director Alexander Dreymon, was born as Alexander Doetsch in then West Germany on 7 February 1983, making Aquarius his zodiac sign. He’s appeared in 14 movies and TV series, and is probably known best for playing Caspar in the 2011 biographical romantic movie “Christopher and His Kind”, directed by Geoffrey Sax, and which starred Matt Smith, Imogen Poots and Lindsay Duncan. It follows German Heinz and British-American author Christopher Isherwood who were in a relationship in the ‘30s, and the movie won one of its three award nominations.

Alexander’s still active in the movie industry, and is currently shooting for the upcoming film “The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die”, in which he’ll be starring as Uhtred.

Alexander was raised by his German parents Wilson and Loran as their only child, but he rarely speaks about them in public because he respects their privacy; the family moved a lot while Alexander was growing up, and he lived in Germany, the USA, Switzerland and France.

He was interested in a number of activities during his youth, including dancing, acting and martial arts, and rarely spent much time at home. Alexander fell in love with horseback riding while living in South Dakota, then upon moving to Paris, France enrolled at a local high school. Alexander’s debut film role was playing Alexandre in the 2010 comedy “Ni Reprise, Ni Echangée”, and the following year saw him play Bruce Norton in the crime mystery “The Last Fashion Show”, Shape Shifter in the short science fiction “Who’s Watching Who”, and Steiner in the war thriller “Resistance”, which won one of its six award nominations.

In 2014, Alexander portrayed the main character Jeremiah in the romantic fantasy thriller “Blood Ransom”, written and directed by Francis dela Torre, and which also starred Clayton Rohner and Clifton Powell. It follows a woman who’s turning into a monster, and is trying to protect her boyfriend from herself. In 2015, Alexander played Steve in the short drama “The Test of Time”, and the year 2016 saw him star as Father in the mystery “Guys Reading Poems”.

He starred as Lee Haze in the 2018 romantic crime drama “Heartlock”, written and directed by Jon Kauffman, and which also starred Lesley-Ann Brandt and Erik LaRay Harvey. It follows a female correctional officer who’s fallen in love with a male convict.

Alexander’s since appeared in two movies: the 2019 short drama “Mabel” and the 2020 action adventure “Horizon Line”.

Roles in TV series

Alexander’s appeared in only two TV series. He played Luke Ramsey in five episodes (2013) of the science fiction horror “American Horror Story”, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, and which stars Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett. It follows the lives of various characters staying at odd locations, the series has been airing since 2011, and has won 144 of its 547 award nominations.

Since 2015, Alexander’s been starring as Uhtred in the hit historical action “The Last Kingdom”, which also stars Eliza Butterworth and Arnas Fedaravicius, and follows Alfred the Great as he’s defending his kingdom against Uhtred, a Viking who was born a Saxon; the series has been nominated for five awards.

Alexander produced 30 and directed one episode of the series “The Last Kingdom”, which today numbers 46 episodes.

He made a guest appearance in a 2018 episode of the talk-show “Celebrity Page”.

Awards and nominations

Alexander’s won only a single award: a June Award for Best Ensemble at the 2020 Top Shorts Film Festival, for his and his colleagues’ performance in “Mabel”.

Love life and fiancé

Alexander prefers to stay quiet about his love life, but it’s still widely known that he’s today engaged to famous American actress Allison Howell Williams, who’s appeared in 18 movies and TV series, and has been nominated for eight awards; she’s probably known best for starring as Marnie Michaels in the comedy series “Girls”, which aired from 2012 through 2017.

The two met while shooting together for the 2020 adventure thriller movie “Horizon Line”, in which they starred alongside Keith David; Allison gave birth to their son in the second half of 2021, and she and Alexander became engaged in December 2022.

He hasn’t mentioned other women whom he’s dated, while it’s known that Allison was married to American entrepreneur Richard Rafael Van Veen from 19 September 2015 through 2019.

Alexander’s engaged to Allison Williams as of February 2023, and they have a son together.

Interesting facts and hobbies

One of Alexander’s best friends is Tom Wlaschiha, a German actor popular for portraying Jaqen H’ghar in the critically acclaimed series “Game of Thrones”.

He’s been physically active since his early teenage years, and has been practicing martial arts for over 25 years now.

He likes both winter and summer, especially yachting in the summer, and skiing in winter.
