Adam studied at the William Penn Charter School, and after matriculation, enrolled at New York University, from which he graduated in 1998 with a double major in film and dramatic writing.
Career Beginnings
A writing prodigy, Adam wrote and produced his first play, “Dr. Pickup” at 15 years of age in 1992, which won him the Philadelphia Young Playwrights Festival award.
He continued to write plays, and his creations reached the stages of such venues as the Illusion Theater, the Sundance Playwright Lab, The Walnut Street Theater, Greenwich Street Theater, and the Joseph Papp Theater.
In 1997, his play “One on One” was considered one of the finalists for the American Theater Critics Association’s Osborn Award.
His play “The Purple Heart”, won him first place in the Very Special Arts Playwriting Award and was produced at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C.
He wrote his first short film in 2000, “Sincerely Yours”, with the help of Ann Reilly, who was also the director. It was followed by another short film, “Free Wheelin’”, while in 2001 he wrote the screenplay for the television sci-fi movie ”Area 52”, directed by Adam Turner.
