Ty Law attended Aliquippa High School, in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, where in addition to football, he played basketball, and was the team’s MVP; he also ran track. He was highly successful, and was named in “Parade” Magazine’s “High School All-American Team” in 1991. He matriculated to the University of Michigan, where he enjoyed much sporting success, appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated on the 3rd October 1994, however, he was obliged to leave college due to financial problems, and so in 1995 entered the NFL Draft.

Law was drafted 23rd by the New England Patriots. In 1999, he was voted by his teammates as defensive co-captain, then helped the team to victory in Super Bowl XXXVI in 2001, winning 20-17 over the St. Louis Rams. In total, he would earn three Super Bowl rings with the team, again in 2003 against the Carolina Panthers and 2004 against the Philadelphia Eagles, his great success contributing significantly to his overall net worth. He played for the Patriots 134 times and has been ranked as their third greatest player of all time. His 53 interceptions on the field also rank him 22nd of all time, of any team.

In 2005, Law moved to the New York Jets, where he stayed for a year, enjoying an excellent season; he was the only player on the team selected for the Pro Bowl that year. He was released in 2006, due to the team being over their financial budget for players, so Law moved to the Kansas City Chiefs, signing a $30 million contract.

In 2008, Law returned to the Jets for a year, before making his final move to the Denver Broncos in November 2009. His overall career stats include 828 yards run, 12 touchdowns, and 169 passes defended.

Law retired from the NFL in January, 2010, when he was released from his contract with the Denver Broncos. He went on to open the Launch Trampoline Park chain, which currently boasts at least 15 locations in the north-eastern US; the business has been franchised by other former NFL players across the country.

Outside of his sporting achievements, in 2004 Law acted in the movie “Friday Night Lights”, playing a wide receiver. In 2005, he again played a football player in “Two for the Money”.

In his personal life, Law is married to Janine, and they have three children. He was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2014. In January of 2017, he was selected as a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It was revealed in February, however, that he did not make the cut, but he could be inducted in future years. He is something of a philanthropist, sponsoring the Ty Law Golf Outing, a charity game.
