Who is Ruth Kearney?
Ruth Delia Kearney, born on 11th November 1984, is a talented actress of Irish descent, who was born in London, England. Known for her role in “Flaked”, Ruth is 5ft 4in (1.63m) tall and weighs about 113lbs (52kgs), with vital statistics of 33-24-32.
Ruth’s Early Years
Growing up in Dublin from the age of five, Ruth dreamed of one day becoming an actress, but lacked support from her family, who disapproved of her aspirations despite having a history in theatre. Her parents split when she was young, and her father who is anonymous, went on to marry for a second time.

If Ruth has any siblings, they prefer to keep away from the limelight, as do her parents, although the thespian has previously mentioned her sister in interviews.
Having attended St. Andrew’s College in Blackrock, and then Trinity College, Dublin, Ruth studied hard and earned a Drama and Classics degree. Shortly afterwards, she enrolled into the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School – where she met her husband Theo James – to polish her acting dotes. Before her graduation in 2009, she had already starred in several stage productions organized by the school. Notable alumni include Sir Patrick Stewart, Gene Wilder and Olivia Colman.
Ruth’s First Roles
Ruth’s first credited role came in 2009, when she made a cameo in “Booky’s Crush”.
In the same year, she played Miriam in the straight-to-TV movie “Gracie!”. The Irish beauty toiled night and day to get her name out there and broaden her horizons, and slowly but surely the roles came trickling in for her.
2011 was a particularly good year for Ruth, as we saw her in 13 episodes of “Primeval”, bringing the witty character of Jess Parker to life, which helped Ruth score an appearance in two episodes of long-running drama “Holby City”, working alongside talented industry names such as Rosie Marcel and Jaye Jacobs.

From 2016 to 2017, Ruth played London in the romantic comedy series “Flaked”, a Netflix production filmed in Venice Beach, California. Starring Will Arnett and David Sullivan, the series was enormously popular – minus a few scathing reviews – despite only running for 14 episodes.
Ruth enjoyed working on the project, and speaks well of her co-stars, with whom she maintains a relationship to this day. From then on, the next three years were pretty quiet professionally, with none of Ruth’s projects being smash hits.
It wasn’t until 2020 with the release of “Trouble Will Find Us”, that the actress enjoyed the success of the drama production which was written and directed by Alexander Milo Bischof, and was nominated for awards at a score of international film festivals.
Shortly afterwards, we saw Ruth in six episodes of “Finding Joy”, a comedy series created by Amy Huberman and Rebecca O’Flanagan. Ruth’s Personal Life
Ruth and “Divergent” star Theo James tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in summer 2018, and were seen in Italy in the month of August sporting wedding rings. They began dating way back in 2009 and were engaged from 2015, but in 2017 rumors of a messy love triangle between Ruth, Theo, and Theo’s co-star Shailene Woodley took the internet by storm.
Theo’s dating history and previous comments in interviews, such as: “Shai and I had good chemistry from the first moment we met”, sparked speculation, with hopeful fans shipping the “Divergent” stars. The actor later said that their friendship had “grown” and that he’d gotten the chance to “see her evolve as a person”.
Although Shailene was dubbed a homewrecker by trolls and gossip blogs alike, all parties kept a dignified silence until Ruth cleared the air and stated that Theo and herself didn’t want to rush into marriage. Shailene and Theo’s chemistry on and off the screen helped fuel netizens’ imaginations, and it’s also possible that “Divergent” executives leaked stories to drum up interest and publicity; it’s worth noting that over the years, Shailene has frequently been linked to her co-stars.
The couple welcomed their first child in August 2021; publications such as Glamour magazine soon picked up on the news, which spread like wildfire online and led to an outpouring of support from the couple’s dedicated fanbase.
