Who is Ted Sutherland?

American actor and model Ted Sutherland was born in New York City, USA, on 16 March 1997, so Pisces is his zodiac sign. He’s appeared in 20 movies and TV series, and is perhaps known best for playing Simon Saunders, one of the main characters in all 10 episodes of the 2018 drama series “Rise”, which also starred Josh Radnor, Marley Shelton and Auli’i Cravalho, and follows the life of a passionate drama teacher.

Education and early life

Ted was raised in New York City by his parents about whom he’s yet to speak in public, because they prefer to maintain their privacy; it’s believed that both his mother and father are entrepreneurs. Ted hasn’t spoken of having siblings, but it’s believed that he was raised alongside his sister.

He was still attending a local elementary school when he fell in love with acting, and began appearing in both school and theatre plays. Ted enrolled at a local high school in 2011, and in the same year made his debut film appearance, playing Max Bronsky in the comedy “Family Album”, directed by Shawn Levy, and which starred Rachael Harris, Joy Osmanski and Mike O’Malley; it follows the members of a dysfunctional family. Ted has since been active in the film industry.

He matriculated in 2015 and then enrolled at acting school, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2018.

Roles in movies

Ted played Boy in the Wheelchair in the 2012 short comedy “Alan Smithee”, and the following year saw him star as Josh in the short drama “American Girl”.

The year 2013 also saw him play Shmuel in the romantic comedy “Fading Gigolo”, written and directed by John Turturro, who also starred in it alongside Woody Allen and Sharon Stone. The movie follows Fioravante who’s begun working as a gigolo, while his friend Murray’s become his manager; it won two of its three award nominations.

Some of Ted’s following roles were in the 2013 family drama “Dovid Meyer”, the musical family comedy “Fan Girl” and the  short comedy “Damnation The Flashback” both in 2015.

In 2017, he starred as Jordan in the short comedy “Miyubi”, directed by Felix Lajeunesse and Paul Raphael, and which also starred Jeff Goldblum, P. J. Byrne and Emily Bergl. It follows the adventures of an American family and their Japanese domestic robot Miyubi, and the film won two awards.

Ted’s had only two other movie roles. He played Young Nick Goode in the 2021 horror mystery “Fear Street: Part Two – 1978”, directed by Leigh Janiak, and which starred Sadie Sink, Emily Rudd and Ryan Simpkins. It follows a group of teenagers as they’re attending Camp Nightwing, while one of them has now been possessed by a demon; the movie won one of its three award nominations. Ted reprised his role in the 2021 horror mystery “Fear Street: Part Three – 1666”.

Roles in TV series

Ted’s debut TV series role was playing Jeremy in the 2015 episode “ICU” of the crime horror “Eye Candy”, created by Christian Taylor, and which starred Victoria Justice, Casey Deidrick and Harvey Guillen; it follows a woman who believes that her online date is a serial killer.

The year 2017 saw Ted appear in the episode “Good Bones” of the thriller “Madam Secretary”, as well as in the pilot episode of the drama “The Deuce”.

In 2019, Ted played Elliot Patterson in two episodes of the popular action adventure comedy “Doom Patrol”, created by Jeremy Carver, and which starred Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby and Matt Bomer. It follows a scientist and his team of ‘superpowered outcasts’, the series aired from 2019 through 2023, and won two of its 18 award nominations.

The year 2019 also saw Ted appear in an episode or two of the crime mystery “Law & Order: Special Victims Units”, the crime mystery “Instinct” and the crime action “FBI”.

His only other TV series role has been playing Percy in 14 episodes of the 2021 science fiction horror “The Walking Dead: World Beyond”, created by Scott M. Gimple and Matthew Negrete, and which starred Julia Ormond, Nicolas Cantu and Alexa Mansour. It follows the first people to grow up in a world overrun by zombies, and the series won two awards.

Other credits

Ted voiced Jack Marston in the critically acclaimed 2018 video game “Red Dead Redemption II”.

Love life and relationships

There’s only a single girl whom Ted’s been with, that his fans know about. Back in 2017, he began dating Katherine Reis, a popular American actress who’s appeared in 17 movies and TV series, and is probably known best for playing Pippa Sykes in six episodes of the new romantic series “Gossip Girl”, which has been airing since 2021. Ted and Katherine were together for a year, breaking up in 2018.

Ted hasn’t mentioned any other girls, or maybe boys whom he’s dated, he seems to be unattached as of March 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Ted’s become an Instagram star, as more than 220,000 people are following him on this social media network, although he’s posted only 18 pictures and videos, most of which were taken during red carpet events.

Ted works out at the gym nearly every day, and has shown off his muscular body in several of his Instagram pictures.

He loves to listen to pop music, and his favorite musicians are Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran.

Ted’s a fan of animes, with some of his favorites being “Attack on Titan”, “Chainsaw Man” and “Code Geass”.

He likes to play various sports with his friends, and his two favorites are table tennis and soccer.

Ted’s favorite actors are Al Pacino and Arnold Schwarzenegger, while some of his favorite films include “The Terminator”, “Scent of a Woman” and “True Lies”.
