Who is Sarah Drew?
Sarah White Drew was born in Stony Brook, New York State USA, on 1 October 1980 – her zodiac sign is Libra, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress with close to 50 credits to her name, probably known best for her portrayal of the lead character Allyson in the 2014 comedy movie “Moms’ Night Out”, written and directed by Jon Erwin, and which also starred Sean Astin and Patricia Heaton. It follows several mothers during a crazy night out, while their husbands are watching their children; the movie won a GMA Dove Award for Inspirational Film of the Year.

Early life and education
Sarah was raised in Stony Brook alongside her brother Allen Drew, by their father Reverend Charles Drew who’s a senior pastor at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, and their mother Dr. Jeannie Drew who teaches biology at a private high school for girls. Sarah’s brother Allen is today a pastor at Mt. Airy Community Church.
She became interested in acting while attending The Stony Brook School, and was a member of the school’s drama club, appearing in many plays performed there; Sarah was also into a couple of other activities during her teenage years, including singing and dancing.
Upon matriculating in 1999, she enrolled at the University of Virginia, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2002.
Roles in TV series
Sarah’s debut TV series role was her voicing of Stacy Rowe and several other characters in 29 episodes of the hit animated comedy drama “Daria”, created by Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis, and which starred Tracy Grandstaff, Wendy Hoopes and Julian Rebolledo. It follows the teenage years of a smart and cynical girl – the series aired from 1997 to 2002, and won one of the four awards for which it was nominated.
Sarah attracted a lot of positive attention with her portrayal of Hannah Rogers in the popular drama “Everwood”, created by Greg Berlanti, and which starred Treat Williams, Gregory Smith and Emily VanCamp. It follows a widowed brain surgeon who has moved to Everwood, Colorado with his son and daughter; the series aired from 2002 to 2006, and won three of the 40 awards for which it was nominated, including two Primetime Emmy nominations.
The remainder of the 2000s saw Sarah make a guest appearance in an episode or two of various series, such as the mystery crime drama “Cold Case”, another mystery crime drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, and the fantasy drama “Medium”.
Since 2009, Sarah’s been playing the supporting character Dr. April Kepner in the critically acclaimed romantic drama “Grey’s Anatomy”, created by Shonda Rhimes, and which stars Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. It follows the lives of a couple of surgical interns and their supervisors – the series has been airing since 2005, and has won 87 awards, including four Primetime Emmys, while it’s been nominated for 240 other awards.

Sarah’s debut film role was her voicing of Stacy Rowe in the 2000 animated comedy “Daria in ‘Is It Fall Yet?”, and a couple of her following roles were in the popular 2003 biographical sports drama “Radio”, the 2005 romantic comedy “The Baxter”, and the 2006 short drama “Locked Upstairs”.
The year 2008 saw her play Nancy Lazarus in the drama “Front of the Class”, directed by Peter Werner, and which starred James Wolk, Treat Williams and Dominic Scott Kay. The movie follows Brad Cohen who’s suffering from Tourette’s syndrome, but has still managed to become a successful teacher.
Sarah played the lead character Ariel in the 2010 romantic comedy “Tug”, while she then starred in the 2013 short romantic drama “Headlights”, and the 2014 short mystery drama “Waking Marshall Walker”.
In 2018, Sarah played the main character Heather Turner in the war drama “Indivisible”, written and directed by David G. Evans, and which also starred Justin Bruening and Jason George. The movie tells the true story of Army Chaplain Darren Turner and his other half Heather, and it won one of the two awards for which it was nominated.
Two of Sarah’s most recent film roles have been in the 2021 romantic mystery drama “One Summer”, and the 2022 thriller drama “Stolen by Their Father”, while she’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “Reindeer Games” and “Say it in German”.

Sarah has one writing, two producing and a single directing credit. She produced the 2018 movie “Indivisible”, directed six episodes of the 2018 series “Grey’s Anatomy: The Webisodes”, and has written the upcoming movie “Reindeer Games”.

She exchanged vows with American lecturer Peter Lanfer on 17 June 2002, in a private ceremony attended by only the closest of their friends and family members; Peter’s today working as a professor at University of California, Los Angeles.
Sarah gave birth to their son Micah Emmanuel on 18 January 2012, and their daughter Hannah Mali Rose followed on 3 December 2014.
Neither Sarah nor Peter have spoken of any other people whom they have perhaps been with, so as of June 2022, Sarah’s married to Peter Lanfer, and they have two children together.

Hobbies and other interests
Sarah’s highly active on Instagram, and is today followed by more than 4.2 million people, while she’s uploaded nearly 1,500 pictures onto the network, the majority of which feature her during her everyday life.
She’s leading a healthy life, as she has multiple training sessions at the gym every week, does yoga on a daily basis, and follows a strict diet, meaning that she avoids eating fast food and sweets.
One of Sarah’s favorite hobbies is travelling, and she’s been to various US states and European countries, mostly thanks to her acting career; her dream travel destination is Venice, Italy.
She’s a philanthropist, and has donated money to several charity organizations and animal shelters; Sarah’s favorite animals are horses.
