Hotboii Wiki: Age, Childhood, and Education

Javarri Latre Walker was born on 13 June 2000, in Orlando, Florida, USA – he’s one of 17 siblings growing up in Pine Hills, a neighborhood known for being home to Hispanics, African-Americans, Jamaicans and Puerto Ricans.

Hotboii had a tough time growing up – he and his siblings didn’t always have a meal on their table, clean clothes, or heating in the winter. Sadly, this forced him into illegal activities, such as stealing and dealing in drugs, which had put him in a juvenile home for two years.

At a young age, Hotboii found interest in music, and would rap alongside his older brother, who would sing. His interest deepened, and he would rap with his friends while in school.

At 13 years of age he started writing songs, remixing popular rap songs he heard on the radio, and two years later his mother set up a studio in their home and he began recording his own music.

Career Beginnings

Hotboii started uploading his music on SoundCloud, and in 2016, launched his YouTube channel. One of his first songs, “Switcharoo”, just started gaining on popularity before he was jailed for breaking into someone’s house.

While incarcerated, Hotboii started thinking about the future, and realized he needed to focus on music full-time once he was out.

In September 2018, Hotboii released his first music video for the song “Life of a Dog”, which now has more than 420,000 views. He continued to release new music, and his next single, “YG’s” came out in 2019.

He was slowly catching traction with his music. He signed a contract with 100K Management, which was followed by another song release, “Don’t Need Time” (2020).

The song became an almost instant hit, and currently it’s his most famous release, with more than 80 million views, while it eventually achieved gold and platinum status. The song was dedicated to his deceased friend Wolph and was drastically different from his previous releases as it featured slow-paced high-octave piano notes.

Rise to Prominence

With the success of “Don’t Need Time”, began the new era of Hotboii’s career. He released his debut mixtape “Kut Da Fan On”, which contained all his previous releases and additional songs, such as “Goat Talk”, “Noun”, and “Glock Season”, with Piles and Rico Cartel on vocals and other up-and-coming rappers.

The majority of those songs were written while he was in the juvenile institution, and he received positive remarks from magazines and critiques for his debut mixtape. Some comments included that he has successfully mixed contemporary hip-hop and the realistic pain he experienced growing up on the streets.

After the success of “Kut Da Fan On”, Hotboii signed a contract with Interscope Records and its imprint Geffen Records. He immediately started working on his full-length debut, “Double O Baby”, which came out on 11 December. The album topped the US Top Heatseekers album chart and featured collaborations with such rappers as Lil Mosey, Toosil, and Pooh Shiesty. The album featured some songs that address the problems between the African-American community and the police, such as “Malcolm X”, “Problems (No Rights)”, and “Police Brutality”. The entire George Floyd case inspired him to write these songs, but also the death of Salaythis Melvin, who was also killed by the police.

He was widely praised for putting his soul into the songs, and he got to perform live on the Rolling Loud ‘Home for the Holidaze’ Livestream, which was headlined by Rick Ross.

He returned in February 2021 with the release of the single “Fuck Shit”, and the music video for the song “Nobody Special”, a collaboration with the rapper Future, released on 28 May. He was scheduled to perform at Rolling Loud Miami from 23 to 25 July, but was arrested as a member of the 438 gang, and charged with racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering.
