Who is Naomi Grossman?

Naomi Grossman is an American Primetime Emmy Award-nominated actress, best recognized for the role of Pepper in the TV series “American Horror Story” (2012-2014), and as Janice in the film “1BR” (2019), among many other roles that she’s secured so far in her career.

Naomi Grossman was born on 6 February 1975 under the Aquarius zodiac sign, in Denver, Colorado USA. She hasn’t shared the names of her parents and whether she has any siblings or not, but it’s known that her grandparents are Theodor Grossman ad Ruth E. Swab.

The Denver native went to Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado, and during her years there she was a part of its theater program, earning applause and positive reviews whenever she performed. She later said that she became interested in acting at an early age, as her parents would take her to the cinema and theater from an early age.

After high school, she joined the Rotary Youth Exchange Student program in Argentina, and upon return enrolled at Northwestern University, from which she obtained a theater major. Moreover, she became a member of the comedy sketch troupe The Groundlings in Los Angeles, California, but after a while she was cut from the group, then before launching her acting career, she taught the Spanish language.

Naomi started her acting career in 1990, with a minor role in the TV comedy crime series “Father Dowling Mysteries”, and then continued with appearances in various commercials and plays, before returning to the screen as a Cheerleader in the TV series “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” (1998), then two years later appeared in the short film “Marisa, Where Art Thou?”. She waited five years for her next on-screen appearance when she was cast as Goth Girl in the short film “Over the Shoulder”.

She continued her career in short films, but without much success until in 2012 luck smiled upon her, when she auditioned for the cast of “American Horror Story”.

At first, she didn’t know for which role she was auditioning for, but at the live casting, she was introduced as Pepper, a woman with microcephaly.

Rise to Prominence

She starred in the second season of the critically acclaimed aforementioned series, and received praise for her work. Then in 2014, it was announced that she would reprise the role of Pepper in the fourth season of the Primetime Emmy Award-winning series, entitled “American Horror Story: Freak Show”, and by doing so, became the first to play the same role in two seasons of the show. In preparation for the role, Naomi had to shave her head bald, and wear a face mask while filming. However, the portrayal of Pepper celebrated her as an actress, and from that point on, she was finding work left and right.

First, she was Bella Tiavas in the short film “#Rip”, which won her the Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Egg Film Festival in Cancun, then in 2016 she portrayed Cat in the film “Fear, Inc.”, and in 2017 she was selected for the part of Lorna in the TV comedy-series “ctrl alt delete”, starring in all 12 episodes of the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated series, before in 2018 returning to “American Horror Story”, but this time as the new character named Samantha Crowe in the show’s eighth season.

Naomi next starred in the thriller drama film “Painkillers”, also in 2018, co-starring Madeline Zima and Mischa Barton, and the same year co-starred in the comedy-drama film “Sleep Away” with Jim O’Heir and Joel Braunstein.

In 2019 she was Chrissy in the romantic comedy film “Bite Me”, and the same year had roles in the horror thriller-mystery film “The Lurker”, and the award-winning horror thriller-drama “1BR”.

The following year Naomi starred in the drama film “Murder RX”, alongside Ana Alexander and Demi Castro, while most recently she worked on the TV horror drama series “American Horror Stories” as Rabid Ruth.
