He was raised with his two younger brothers, LiAngelo and LaMelo, by their father, LaVar Ball, a well-known former professional American football player and businessman, and mother Tina Ball, a former college basketball player. Lonzo holds American nationality and is of African-American ethnicity.
Educational Background and Amateur Career
Lonzo Ball started playing basketball together with his brothers at a very young age. While in high school, they were coached by their father, playing at Chino Hills High School.
While in there, he distinguished himself as a very talented player, who led the team to a 35–0 record and a state title in his senior year. He even won such national honors as the Morgan Wootten National Player of the Year, Naismith Prep Player of the Year, and USA Today Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
Upon matriculation, Lonzo enrolled into the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he continued to play for the UCLA Bruins. In his freshman year, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Wooden Legacy tournament, led the nation in assists, and helped the team to become one of the top-scoring teams in the US.

Professional Career
Lonzo Ball started his professional career after being chosen as the second overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers. He initially played in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was named the league MVP after he averaged 16.3 points, 9.3 assists (a league record), 7.7 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
He also scored two triple-doubles, the first-ever in Vegas by a rookie. In his NBA rookie season, he appeared in 52 games and missed 30 due to knee and shoulder injuries. He eventually ended the season averaging 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.9 rebounds, and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
Afterwards, he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, and made a comeback in 2018. However, at the end of the season he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Anthony Davis., and spent two seasons with them, and then joined the Chicago Bulls in a sign-and-trade deal in the summer of 2021.
