Lidia learned the culinary craft beginning at the early age of fourteen when she worked part-time in “Astoria Bakery,” an establishment owned by Christopher Walken. On her sixteenth birthday, she met Felix Bastianich, who later became her husband. She opened two restaurants in Queens but after her father died in 1981, then sold these and opened “Felida “in Manhattan. “Felida” became the launch of Lidia’s career on the culinary scene, named after her and her husband, it earned universal acclaim and praise from “The New York Times.” “Becco,” which they opened shortly after the success of “Felida,” also followed suit. Of course they have contributed significantly to Lidia’s net worth.

Lidia also started to write cookbooks in 1990.; to date, she has authored 14. Despite the success in both of their careers, Lidia and Felix divorced in 1998 because of personal and entrepreneurial reasons. Lidia continued with her career in the culinary arts, and in the fall of 1998, her first television show, “Lidia’s Italian Table” aired on “Public Television.” In 2000, she also became a celebrity judge in “MasterChef USA”. Her continuous rise to fame earned her another television show in the fall of 2010, “Lidia’s Kitchen.” All added to her net worth.

In 2013 she earned an “Emmy Award” for “Outstanding Culinary;” and in 2014, three of her cooking shows gained “James Beard Awards”. In 2014, she also became a judge in “Junior MasterChef Italy.” Today, she lives in New York and continues to host cooking shows and to publish cookbooks. Her son, Joseph, occasionally appears in her shows as well.

All the fame, wealth and fortune that Lidia Bastianich has earned were because of her strong family ties and tradition. The history of her career in the culinary arts is a history of how she and her family struggled, which dates all the way back to Lidia’s childhood to the later years when she and her husband, Felix, had divorced. Felix and Lidia married in 1966 and became blessed with two children, Joseph and Tanya, the support of whom also helped in her success. In fact, they have not only supported her, but also followed her footsteps. One instance when her son had partnered with well-known personalities in the culinary industry to build “Eataly” in Manhattan. Even her daughter, Tanya, showed great interest in Lidia’s culinary at such an early age.

Impossible. The real estate on her restaurants is worth more than that.
