Lakiha Spicer was born on 11 June 1977 under the Gemini zodiac sign, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, to parents Clarence Fowler – who later changed his faith to Islam and his name to Shamsud-Din Ali, and became the leader of the local Philadelphia Masjid – and his wife, whose catholic name was Rita Spicer, but with her husband, she also changed her name to Faridah Ali. Lakiha was 18 when she met Mike Tyson. Lakiha’s father was a close friend of American former boxing promoter Don King, and who was Mike Tyson’s promoter. Through this friendship, Lakiha’s father always had tickets for various boxing bouts, including those of Mike Tyson. He would often take Lakiha to the stands and close to the ring, and Lakiha was immediately attracted towards Mike.
He was then convicted of rape and sentenced to three years in prison, but that didn’t stop her from feeling affection towards the champion.
Upon his release, they started dating with no commitment from Mike’s side, and so were in an on-and-off relationship. He was seeing other girls, often in the company of Lakiha in clubs, but would leave with her after the party. This kept her believing that Mike would eventually choose her as his partner. She fell in love with him, but their relationship took a serious hit in 2008. Her parents alongside several of their helpers spent time in jail from September 2004, for being involved in racketeering activities, to obtain money and property through schemes involving extortion and bribery.
Her father spent nine years in prison, while her mother was sentenced to over a year in prison. Lakiha as well spent time in jail; in 2008, she was sent to federal prison for six months after being found guilty of fraud and conspiracy, through which she obtained $71,000 from her father’s company – she used the company and the Sister Clara Muhammad School in which she allegedly taught math to Muslim children, however, the school was just a cover in her money-laundering scheme. Before Lakiha, Mike had two failed marriages; his first wife was actress Robin Givens, with whom he was married from 7 February 1988 to 14 February 1989, while his second wife was Monica Turner – their marriage lasted from 19 April 1997 until 14 January 2003.
Just a month before she was sent to prison, Lakiha discovered that she was pregnant with Mike’s and her first child. She went through the pregnancy in jail, without any major problems, and gave birth to a healthy daughter, Milan in December 2008. Milan brought a change in Mike and Lakiha’s romance, and the two married on 6 June 2009, since when the couple has welcomed a son, Morocco. When she came out of prison, Mike was a struggling drug addict who was already committed to treatment, and ready to give up on his old ways and focus on their romance. Born Michael Gerard Tyson on 30 June 1966, in Brooklyn, New York City USA, the son of Lorna Smith Tyson and Purcell Tyson, who is his biological father, but was raised by a man named Jimmy Kirkpatrick. He had a troubled childhood – his mother died in 1982 of cancer, and as Jimmy had already left the family a few years prior, Mike was left in the care of famed boxing manager and trainer Cus D’Amato, who later became his legal guardian. He focused on boxing in his teenage years and since then has become one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.
Mike was the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990 – his first championship belt came when he was just 20 years, four months and 22 days old, the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title. He eventually became the first heavyweight boxer to hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles. He finished his career with 50 wins, and six losses, during he is known for several high-profile bouts, including against Evander Holyfield, Lenox Lewis, and many others.
