When the reality show “19 Kids and Counting” started airing in 2008 – at first called “17 Kids and Counting” and then “18 Kids and Counting” – it soon became one of the most popular American reality television series on the TLC cable channel, and kept the attention of the audience until it ended in 2015.
The series followed the lives of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar, who were the parents of 19 children, two of whom were born during the show; Jedidiah Duggar is their tenth child and fifth son. Early life and education
Jedidiah Robert Duggar was born under the zodiac sign of Capricorn on 30 December 1998, five minutes before his twin brother Jeremiah. He was raised in Tontitown, near Springdale, Arkansas USA, in a family of devout Baptists.
His parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, married when she was 17 and he was 19; at first they used birth control pills, but after Michelle suffered a miscarriage in 1989, the doctor told them that oral contraceptives may have been the cause, so they decided to let God choose how many children they should have.
Besides Jedidiah, they have 18 more sons and daughters, too many to list , but all of their names begin with the letter ‘J’.
Jedidiah was homeschooled, and like his siblings, he had limited access to television and movies, and their internet service is filtered. They only watched programs that their parents considered being wholesome family entertainment, and were also allowed to watch various historical events. Jedidiah took the test to get his General Educational Diploma (GED) in 2016.
Their clothes were also modest, shorts and tank tops were prohibited, and the girls didn’t wear skirts with hems above the knees.
Boys must have their hair short, and shave daily, and they must avoid beaches and public swimming areas.
Who is his wife Katey Nakatsu?
Jedidiah met his future wife in 2019, however, they kept their relationship a secret, and never made an official statement regarding their relationship until they actually married.
Katelyn Koryn ‘Katey’ Nakatsu was born under the zodiac sign of Leo on 29 July 1998, in Mesa, Arizona USA, and is a member of the well-known fundamentalist Nakatsu Family.
Her father Kory Raymond Nakatsu, her mother Kimberly Flanigan, and her sister Lauren would meet the Duggar family at the annual Big Sandy Family Conference in Texas, and it’s assumed that Jedidiah and Katey fell in love during one of those events.
There isn’t much known about Katey, since she has no social media accounts, except that she graduated from high school in 2016, and that she is religious.
Wedding
Katey’s family has their own blog, and through it they announced that Jedidiah has proposed to Katey on 14 February 2021, at Amy’s Wedding Barn in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

There is a YouTube video posted on their joint channel, featuring the two of them walking down the aisle, and then him getting down on one knee and asking the famous question, to which she said ‘yes’ with a big smile on her face, and they hugged.
You would expect them to kiss, but at the time of their engagement, they made vows to each other to stay pure and avoid any physical contact, presumably excepting a hug occasionally. Among other things, he said: ‘I have prepared my works without and made it fit for myself in the field and now prepare a home for us to live. Until that time, I pledge to sustain your good reputation by staying within the sight of others when we are together.’
Her vows were: ‘I receive your pledge to marry and when the Lord calls, I will be your wife. Just as the church is set apart for Christ, I am now set apart for you. I pledge myself to you, forsaking all others.’
The two married on 3 April 2021, at Barn at the Springs, in Springdale, in the presence of their families and friends, and shared their first kiss at the altar. They uploaded a video of their wedding onto their YouTube channel “Jed+Katey”, and people commented on the video about how beautiful that ceremony was.
Jedidiah and Katey haven’t shared where they traveled on their honeymoon, however, according to photos he posted on his Instagram, they spent some time at the beach.
On 5 September 2021, the two announced that Katey was pregnant, and on 7 January the following year, they revealed that they were expecting a boy. Their son, Truett Oliver Duggar, was born on 2 May 2022, in Arkansas, and his birth was featured on their YouTube channel.
The video has been viewed over 200,000 times, and the comments are full of love and support for these new parents.
Net worth
Back in 2020, Jedidiah ran for the Arkansas House of Representatives in District 89 as a Republican, however, he lost to a Democratic candidate, and his political career ended there.
He currently works as a used car salesman at his family’s business.
It’s known that it’s typical for their children to remain in their parent’s house until they marry and start a family of their own. Jedidiah is now married and has a child, thus it means that he’s earning his salary, which he hasn’t disclosed, but according to thelist.com, his net worth has been estimated at over $500,000.
According to sources, during the time when the show “19 Kids and Counting” was aired, Jedidiah’s parents Jim Bob and Michelle were earning between $25,000 and $40,000 per episode.
