Jessica Moore – aka Jess Hilarious – was born in Baltimore, Maryland USA, on 13 February 1992 – her zodiac sign is Aquarius, and she holds American nationality. She’s a stand-up comedian and an actress, perhaps known best for her appearances on the MTV show “Wild ‘N Out”, and various other shows on VH1 and BET.
Early life and education
Jess was born to Kevin and Robin Moore, and grew up in West Baltimore alongside her two siblings. She matriculated from a local high school in 2012, and then enrolled at Colombia College, Chicago where she studied mortuary science, with the intention of working as a mortician after graduating.

However, she dropped out after her first year, realizing that she didn’t enjoy the studies as much as she expected, and chose to focus on her comedy career instead.
Career as a stand-up comedian
Jess started doing comedy on Instagram, by uploading short comedy skits. One of her first videos was a parody of Maury Povich’s talk show, which quickly went viral. As her popularity on social media grew, Jess started doing live stand-up shows in Chicago, Illinois. Unlike many other comedians, Jess prefers not to write down jokes, but rather improvises and performs from memory.
Her success as a stand-up comedian has grown rapidly since then, and she has had the honor of opening shows for renowned stand-up comedians such as Martin Lawrence, Bruce Bruce and Rickey Smiles. In 2017, she launched her own Comedy Club tour, selling out venues all through the US.
In the same year, Jess joined the cast for the 9th season of the comedy show “Wild N’ Out”, created by the comedian Nick Cannon, and airing on MTV since July 2005. It features two teams of comedians competing against each other, in a series of improvisational comedy games, such as “Hood Jeopardy”, “Late Night Questions” and “Instaham”. In her season, Jess competed alongside rappers, comedians and TV presenters such as Chance the Rapper, Killer Mike and Wendy Williams.

In one of the episodes, Jess was tasked with impersonating the late singer Whitney Huston. She started off by singing the modified lyrics to her hit song “I Will Always Love You”, ending the performance mid song, by saying “I’m dead!”, in reference to the singer’s recent passing. This sparked controversy, as some viewers felt that the joke was in bad taste, while some praised her performance, saying that nothing is really off limits when it comes to comedy.
Following her appearance on “Wild N’ Out”, Jess has become even more popular, and has had several successful tours across North America. She has also been featured on networks such as VH1, BET and Centric, gaining recognition particularly for her voice imitations.
In 2018 she won the Clapback Award at the 2018 BET Social Awards, and in the following year, she hosted the second annual BET Social Awards, along with the comedian DC Young Fly.
TV series and film appearances
Jess made her TV series debut in 2018, when she starred as Brittany in 12 episodes of the sitcom “Rel”, created by Kevin Barnett and Josh Rabinowitz, and which also starred Lil Rel Howery and Jordan L. Jones.
Jess made her film debut in the following year, in the comedy “I Got the Hook Up 2”, centered on two friends who opened a restaurant together, but ran into trouble as the health inspector threatens to shut it down.
The movie was directed by Corey Grant, and won the Jury Award for Best Feature Film at the 2019 Urban Film Festival in Miami, Florida.
In 2020, Jess appeared alongside Jay Pharoah and Katt Williams in the comedy movie “2 Minutes of Fame”, about an up-and-coming stand-up comedian trying to make it big in the film industry. Jess is set to star in the upcoming comedy drama film “Hip Hop Family Christmas”, written and directed by Greg Carter, and which is expected to be released on 6 December 2021.
Love life and boyfriend
As Jess was starting out her comedy career on social media, her fans had also grown to know her then boyfriend, Chris, who was often featured in her videos.
Things seemed to have been going smoothly for the young couple up until late 2018, when Chris practically disappeared from Jess’ social media, which prompted her to announce their break-up in an Instagram post. She then went on to appear on the podcast “The Breakfast Club”, revealing that she left Chris after he was spotted kissing another woman, by one of her fans. He didn’t stay silent to the accusations, claiming that Jess was actually the one who was cheating on him with a married man.
Before dating Chris, Jess was in a relationship with a man named Gerome, with whom she has a nine-year-old son, Ashton Amar James. While most of her recent relationships have been public, not much is known about Gerome, as she wants to protect his and their son’s privacy.
In 2018 and 2019, Jess was in an on-and-off relationship with the comedian Kountry Wayne, with whom she stayed on amicable terms. They first started dating shortly after Jess’ break-up from Chris, and stayed together until Valentine’s Day 2019, apparently breaking up because she was displeased that Wayne was spending a lot of time with his ex-wife.
