Erick was born as Nariman Eruch Avari on 13 April 1952 in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India, son of Eruch Avari, who owned two movie theatres, the Capital and the Rink. Erick’s great-great-grandfather was Jamshedji Framji Madan, credited as one of the pioneers of Indian cinema. Unfortunately, there is no information about his mother.
