Who is Ryan Paevey?
Fans of the romantic drama series “General Hospital” were disappointed when the actor Ryan Paevey announced in January 2018 that he was leaving the show. He was playing the character of Nathan West, an heroic ‘good guy’ and love interest for Kirsten Storm’s character, Maxie Jones.
He made appearances in 284 episodes from 2013 until 2018, and although he had no nominations for his performance, Ryan was well-accepted by the audience, and critics praised his acting.

Born Ryan Jacob Paevey-Vlieger under the zodiac sign of Libra on 24 September 1984, in Torrance, California USA, he was raised in Los Angeles, California by his parents Linda Paevey and Les Vlieger, alongside his younger sister Kaitlyn. He holds American nationality although he comes from a family of Indonesian and Dutch descent.
As a teenager, Ryan worked in construction with his father, also as a bartender, before he was scouted by a modeling agency during his senior year in high school. Speaking of his educational background, he attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2002, he didn’t enroll in college but pursued his modeling career, working for various popular brands.
As a model, Ryan made an appearance in music videos for famous musicians such as Cher and Katy Perry, and also featured in the music video for the songs “Sex Therapy” by Robin Thicke (2009), Toni Braxton’s “Hands Tied” (2010), and Christina Aguilera’s “Your Body” (2012).
Roles in movies
Ryan made his acting debut as Tom in the 2011 short movie “The Girl with the Gloves”, written and directed by Lindsay Seim. He followed with his role as Jonathan in the comedy horror “4 Dead Girls: The Soul Taker”, which was nominated for the 2012 Action on Film International Film Festival, USA Award for Best Horror Film-Feature.
One of his most notable movie roles came in 2016, when he was cast to play Donovan Darcy in the Hallmark Channel’s movie “Unleashing Mr. Darcy”, a modern spin-off, based on the novel “Pride & Prejudice” by Jane Austen; the movie won the WorldFest Houston Platinum Remi Award for Best Feature Film.
In the following year, Ryan was seen starring in “Locked In” and “Harvest Love”, while in 2018, he made his big-screen debut by reprising his role as Donovan Darcy in “Marrying Mr. Darcy” opposite Cindy Busby.
In the same year, Ryan starred as Mac in “Hope at Christmas”, another of Hallmark’s romantic dramas, which followed the story of a divorced young woman Sydney, who inherited her grandmother’s house and while visiting the town meets a single teacher, the owner of a bookstore, with whom she ends up preparing for Christmas season.
In 2019, Ryan was seen as Tod Cooper in “From Friend to Fiancée”, followed by his roles in “A Summer Romance” and “Christmas at the Plaza”, in the same year.
You must have already realized that Ryan became one of the stars of Hallmark Channel’s movies, so in the following years, he starred in “Matching Hearts” and “A Timeless Christmas” (2020), “A Little Daytime Drama” and “Coyote Creek Christmas” (2021).

Roles in series
Ryan made his television series debut portraying Simon in an episode of the series “The Client List” in 2013. Soon afterwards, he was cast to play his most significant role to date, as Nathan West in “General Hospital”. This romantic drama series began airing in 1963, and since then has had 651 award nominations, and won 306. It follows the story of citizens of Port Charles, New York State, friends, enemies, families and lovers, and life-changing moments in a busy hospital.
After the aforementioned role, Ryan guest starred as Victor Lake in the comedy-drama “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in 2018, and then in 2019 had the recurring role of Bryce in “Games People Play”.

Ryan often plays romantic and gentle guys, so it isn’t surprising that his fans want to know more about his love life. There were rumors about his sexual orientation, however, Ryan confirmed that he’s straight, although he supports the LGBT community.

Also, on the internet, you can find a photo of him with a baby in his lap, and this started rumors saying that he became a father. Again, the truth is far from the assumption – the baby in the photo is of his co-star from “General Hospital”, Kirsten Storms.
Ryan is quite secretive when it comes to his personal matters, thus he hasn’t spoken about his relationships. As of October 2022, it’s assumed that he’s single; he hasn’t been married, and doesn’t have children.
