Cleo was born on 17 September 1984, in Malibu, California, USA. She is the daughter of Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross. Growing up, she shied away from the media spotlight, despite her parents enjoying global fame, but enjoyed all the luxury she could while growing up. She showed an interest in music from an early age, and began taking flute and guitar lessons early on. After high school, she enrolled at Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown Acting Studio, where she studied music for the next four years. While there, she made a few print gigs as a model, and appeared in the reality show “SexyHair”. After this, she went on to study classical opera with famous musical artist Charity Chapman.
Career
After her opera classes, Cleo entered the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
She started working with Bobby Hardy, a producer with whom she recorded several songs, and in 2008 she released her first album, “No More Lies”, which remains her only album release to date. Since then, she’s lived off her previous fame, until in 2020 making an appearance in the short film “Murder for Dummies”.

Cleo and her mother Katharine can’t take pride in an affectionate relationship, as they’ve had a few ups and downs over the years. When Cleo was around 12 or 13 years old, she began verbally abusing her mother, which escalated as she got older.
In 2011, Katharine and Cleo were involved in a physical altercation, during which Katharine was stabbed several times in her right arm with scissors, by her daughter.
Cleo lost her temper and yelled at her mother that she wanted to kill her. She then kicked the cupboard door, and when Katharine reached for the phone to call the police, Cleo cut the wires with scissors. Next, she started yelling that she would pick her mother’s eyes out with the same scissors, and then stabbed her six times in her right arm. Luckily, Katharine avoided any life-threatening wounds and recovered completely, but not before filing a restraining order against her daughter.
The court issued a 100-yard restraining order to Cleo, meaning that she couldn’t come closer to her mother, home, workplace, or car.
Since then, the two have improved their relationship, and have been seen together at several red carpet events, including the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, then the premiere of the film “A Star is Born” (2018), and in 2019, the mother-daughter duo attended the 91st Academy Awards.
