Career Beginnings
Interested in music and the hip hop genre from an early age, he looked up to his older brother, who became a rap star early in his life. Gradually, BWay was making his way in the music industry, but it was only in 2020 that he released his debut EP, entitled “Bag Ways”.
He started uploading his music on YouTube two years earlier, and slowly started gaining attention. His first official music video, “Lost Soul” now has over 855,000 views and is one of his popular songs.
This was soon followed by “Go6lin”, and “Crying Out”, which still garnered considerable publicity, with the latter being only the audio.

Gradually his popularity increased, and after releasing the album “Hark Hearted” (2021), he rose to prominence, especially with the songs “Misunderstood”, “Overdose”, and “If You Love Me”, among others.
He uploaded all his music to YouTube and now has more than 140,000 subscribers on the popular video-sharing platform. BWay released his latest music video for the song “Fake Love” in March 2022.
Murder Charges
Back in December 2019, he was arrested on charges of second-degree murder, and for using an illegal weapon.
Alongside his brother, DeVaughn Tate killed a 17-year-old teenager Jevon Brown with a critical shot to his stomach, while he was returning from school. Young Jevon was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
The two were arrested the same night and immediately charged. Yungy was 16 at the time, but the prosecutors wanted to try him as an adult. However, he spent a few months in a detention center, and was then out and about, free to make his music.
Unfortunately, in 2020, BWay found himself in yet another altercation, and this time he ended up on the wrong side of the gun. Luckily, he was admitted to a hospital with minor injuries, and was released a few days later.

He was born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden on 20 October 1999, in Baton Rouge, the son of Sherhonda Gaulden, while there is no information about his father’s name.
Raised by his maternal grandmother, YoungBoy had a terrible accident while a toddler in which he broke his neck; he wore a head brace until the spine healed, leaving permanent scars on his forehead.
He dropped out of school in ninth grade and turned to crime. He was soon arrested for robbery, and sent to a detention center in Tallulah, Louisiana.
During his time in jail, YoungBoy started writing songs, and his first mixtape, “Life Before Fame” came out in 2015.
After a string of mixtapes, some of which include “Mind of a Menace” and “Before I Go”, he rose to popularity thanks to beefing with Baton Rouge rapper Scotty Cain.
