Who is Alex Hassell?
The three-times Oscar-nominated mystery drama “The Tragedy of Macbeth”, based on the play of the same title by William Shakespeare, came to theaters in January 2022, with the main characters portrayed by the famous actors, who don’t need to be specially presented, Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, but also starring Alex Hassell, who immediately caught the eye of public, who wanted to know more about him.

Early life and education
Alexander Stephen ‘Alex’ Hassell was born under the zodiac sign of Virgo on 7 September 1980, in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England, thus he holds British nationality and he comes from a family of English descent. Alex was raised in his hometown in a Christian family, by his parents about whom little is known, except that his father was a vicar. He respects their privacy thus he hasn’t spoken about them, and his three older siblings also prefer to keep their lives away from the media’s attention.

Alex made his acting debut portraying Andreo Ray in an episode of the series “Queen of Swords“ in 2001, and then two years later, he made an appearance as Jules in “Murder in Mind” before he was cast in the same year to play Peter Buckhurst in the TV mini-series “Death in Holy Order”.
In the following years, Alex guest-starred in “Murphy’s Law” (2005) and “Robin Hood” (2006), and was next seen starring as Felix Nash in “Bonkers” in 2007. He also made appearances in numerous series, including “The Bill” (2008), “Legend of the Seeker” (2009), and “Hustle” in 2011, before he was cast to play Colin Nash in the 2013 TV mini-series “Life of Crime”.

This was Alex’s most recent role, however, in a recent interview for Square Mile, he said: ‘I just did a couple of episodes on a TV thing that I’m not allowed to talk about, but that’ll be out at some point this year.
It’s a co-production of a British and American company’, adding that he will shoot another film, about whom he also wasn’t allowed to share more details, however, the great news is that audiences will be able to enjoy his coming performances.
The Factory Theatre Company
Alex is a co-founder of The Factory Theatre Company’s based in London, of which Emma Thompson and Ewan McGregor among others are members; their first production of William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” was performed at various pop-up locations across London, and as Alex said:
‘The reason that we created it and the reason that it still exists is to try and find a place for acting that was outside of the industry. As an actor, you usually only get to engage in your craft if someone else from some hierarchical place gives you permission to do it,’ and that seemed wrong to him, so they perform anywhere, even at music festivals at four in the morning.
Currently, Alex is the sole artistic director of his theatre company.
Love life and relationships
Alex hasn’t been the subject of any rumors and controversies concerning his love life and his sexual orientation, and it is widely known that he is a married man. His wife is Emma King, an actress perhaps known best for her role in the 2017 movie “The Vanishing”, and she was also seen starring in “Cowboy Bebop”. Alex prefers to keep his personal matters away from the public eye, thus he hasn’t spoken about how and when he met his future wife, however, many people believe that it was on the set of the movie “Two Down”, in 2014.
