Early life, family, and education
Born under the zodiac sign of Cancer on 3 July 1997, Alyah is a native of Houston, Texas USA, and spent most of her childhood in the suburb of Pearland. She holds American nationality and her ethnicity is African-American, but hasn’t shared the names of her parents, although it’s known that her father works at a car company, while her mother is a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) aerospace engineer. Alyah began her acting career performing in the productions of the Music Theatre Wichita, and while in college, she landed the female lead role of Nabulungi in the musical “The Book of Mormon” by Matt Stone (book), Trey Parker (lyrics), and Robert Lopez (music), which toured around the US during 2019. Aylah saw the show for the first time in 2014, when the first national tour came in her hometown, and since then had been dreaming of this role.
Alyah made her first movie appearance as McKenna Smith in the short movie “Walk Off”, filmed in 2019, but which has yet to have its debut.
From 2021 to 2022, Alyah played her most notable role to date, as Whitney Chase in “The Sex Lives of College Girls”. Making her first television appearance, Alyah was seen in all 21 episodes alongside Pauline Chalamet, Renee Rapp and Amrit Kaur. The show followed the story of four freshman roommates at Essex College, in Vermont, and these sexually active college girls are a mix of contradictions and hormones who are equally endearing and irrational. Alyah’s character, Whitney is a daughter of a US senator and star soccer player, who had an affair with the team’s assistant coach.
The series received six award nominations, and won the ReFrame Stamp for IMDbPro Top 200 Most Popular TV Titles 2021-2022. According to sources, the show is officially renewed by Home Box Office (HBO) in December 2023.
Concurrently with her role in “The Sex Lives of College Girls”, in 2022, Alyah was seen as Timberly in five episodes of the series “Reboot”, a comedy starring Keegan-Michael Key, Rachel Bloom and Johnny Knoxville, and later that year, she made an appearance in the music video for the song “Too Well” by Renee Rapp, her co-star.
Love life and relationships
Unlike her colleagues, Alyah is very open about her love life. Although she was the subject of numerous rumors concerning her romantic life and her sexual orientation, Aylah hasn’t commented on those assumptions.

The two met back in 2016, while they were both performing in theatre and have been a couple since then. Alyah and Simon are often seen together in public, and they seem to enjoy traveling together, judging by their Instagram posts.
As of April 2023, Alyah is in a relationship, hasn’t been married or engaged, and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
One of Alyah’s favorite hobbies is dancing. She likes tap dance, hip-hop, contemporary and ballroom dance.
