Who is Alexander Devore Avant?

Alexander was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 3 August 1971 – his zodiac sign is Leo, he’s of French descent and holds American nationality. He’s an actor, film writer and producer, but who’s probably only known for being the son of Clarence Alexander Avant, a famous American music executive and film producer.

Early life and education

Alexander was raised in Los Angeles alongside his sister Nicole Avant, by their father and their mother Jacqueline Avant; Jacqueline was killed on 1 December 2021, during an armed robbery at their home. Alexander’s sister Nicole is a former US ambassador to the Bahamas.

He grew up being interested in various activities, including acting with his elementary school’s drama club, and playing football and soccer.

Alexander was a highly active child, as he spent most of his spare time outdoors, playing sports or just spending time with his friends. He continued acting upon enrolling at a local high school; Alexander matriculated in 1989.

He hasn’t spoken of his further education, but it’s believed that he attended college, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1993.

Alexander’s career

Not a lot is known about Alexander’s career, as he prefers to keep its details away from the media’s attention, but it’s known that he has a couple of acting credits.

In 2005, he appeared in an episode of the hit mystery fantasy series “Charmed”, created by Constance M. Burge, and which starred Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause and Alyssa Milano.

It follows three witch sisters who are fighting against evil forces, the series aired from 1998 to 2006, and won five of the 25 awards for which it was nominated. In 2006, Alexander portrayed Ben in the comedy series “Courting Alex”.

He played Forty Bold in the 2012 action fantasy adventure movie “Gallowwalkers”, written and directed by Andrew Goth, and which starred Wesley Snipes, Kevin Howarth and Riley Smith. It follows the gunman Snipes who has been cursed, and whose victims have all come back to life as zombies.

Some of his producing credits include the 2011 reality TV show “Beverly Hills Fabulous”, the 2016 romantic comedy movie “The Perfect Match”, and the 2017 documentary musical movie “Cant’s Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story”.

Clarence Alexander Avant was born in Climax, North Carolina USA, on 25 February 1931 – his zodiac sign is Pisces, and he holds American nationality. He‘s appeared in only a single movie, portraying African Musician in the critically acclaimed 1985 drama “The Color Purple”, based on the novel by Alice Walker, directed by Steven Spielberg, and starred Danny Glover, Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg. The movie follows a black Southern woman who has suffered abused from her father and others, and is trying to turn her life around; it won 14 of the 48 awards for which it was nominated, including 11 Oscar nominations.

Clarence was raised in Climax alongside his seven younger siblings, by their mother Gertrude Avant, and their father whose identity remains undisclosed.

He studied at Dudley High School, and switched schools after he moved to New Jersey aged 16; he matriculated in 1949. He was mentored by Joseph G. ‘Joe’ Glaser, who had previously managed the famous American vocalist and trumpeter Louis Armstrong.

Clarence then went on to become the manager of numerous famous musicians, including Little Willie John, Sarah Lois Vaughan and Freddie Hubbard. He launched his own company Avant Garde Enterprises, Inc. on 7 November 1962, and opened an office on the West Coast in September 1964. Clarence was also the executive, board member and adviser of the National Association of Radio Announcers (NARA).

He began working for Venture Records Inc. in October 1967, and is credited with engineering the first contract between a major record label and an African-American artist.

In August 1969, he co-produced the theatre play “The Reckoning (a surreal Southern Fable)”.

Between 1970 and 1974, he worked with Sussex Records, and signed the guitarist Dennis Coffey, singer-songwriter Bill Withers and the rock ‘n’ roll band Gallery to it. Clarence was the executive producer of the 1973 documentary movie “Save the Children”.

He was presented with the Trustees Award by the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences on 10 February 2008, and Clarence received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 7 October 2016. Most recently, on 12 May 2021, he received the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
