Who is Adam Goldberg?

Adam Charles Goldberg was born in Santa Monica, California USA, on 25 October 1970 – his zodiac sign is Scorpio, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor, film writer and director, with close to 100 acting credits to his name, perhaps still known best for his portrayal of Private Mellish in the 1998 war movie “Saving Private Ryan”, directed by Steven Spielberg, and which starred Tom Hanks, Matt Damon and Tom Sizemore. It follows a team of US soldiers during World War II, who’ve been sent to rescue a paratrooper who’s lost all his brothers in the war; the movie won 84 awards, including five Oscars, while it was nominated for 75 other awards. It’s been rated amongst the 30 best movies of all time.

Early life and education

Adam was raised in Santa Monica by his father Earl Goldberg who was the owner of his own wholesale food business, and a lifeguard, and his mother Donna (nee Goebel) who was a housewife; because Adam hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, most of his fans believe him to be an only child.

He became interested in acting at the age of 14, and thus went on to practice it at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute; Adam was also physically quite active during his teenage years, as he enjoyed playing football and basketball with his friends.

Upon matriculating in 1989, he enrolled at Sarah Lawrence College, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1993.

Adam made his debut TV series appearance in the 1990 episode “A Class Act” of the comedy “Designing Women”, and he gained recognition in 1995, when cast to play the supporting character Leo in the comedy “Double Rush”. Adam made his debut film appearance in the 1991 biographical sports drama “Babe Ruth”, while a couple of his following roles were in the 1992 comedy drama “Mr. Saturday Night”, and in 1993 the comedy “Dazed and Confused” and the romantic comedy drama “Son in Law”.

What marked the ‘90s for him was probably his portrayal of an extra in the critically acclaimed 1995 romantic drama “Before Sunrise”, written and directed by Richard Linklater, and which starred Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy and Andrea Eckert. It follows a man and a woman who’ve met on a train, and are now spending the evening together in Vienna, Austria; the movie won one of the eight awards for which it was nominated.

A couple of his most notable performances in the 2000s were perhaps in the 2001 biographical drama “A Beautiful Mind”, the 2003 romantic comedy “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”, and the 2007 mystery crime drama “Zodiac”.

The year 2016 saw Adam play the lead character Zack in the thriller “Rebirth”, written and directed by Karl Mueller, which also starred Fran Kranz and Nicky Whelan. It follows a man who’s given himself a free weekend, without work or his family, but whose life is now in danger.

Three of Adam’s most recent roles have been in the 2016 romantic comedy drama “Between Us”, the 2017 action comedy “Once Upon a Time in Venice”, and the 2019 crime thriller drama “Running with the Devil”; he’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “The Georgetown Project” and “Swedish Erotica (a comedy)”.

Other credits

Adam composed the music for the 2003 movies “Running with the Bulls” and “I Love Your Work”.

Adam’s quite open when it comes to talking about his love life, and it’s widely known that he’s today a married man, as well as a father of two. He and American artist and designer Roxanne Daner haven’t spoken about how and when they met, but it’s believed that they were introduced by a mutual friend at a party in 2010. Regretably, Roxanne gave birth to their stillborn son in 2013.

Adam and Roxanne married on 31 October 2014, in a small ceremony attended by only a couple of their friends and family members, and Roxanne gave birth to their son Bud in November 2014, while their third son Sonny followed in September 2018.

It’s also widely known that between 2003 and 2007, Adam was in a relationship with famous American actress and producer Christina Ricci.

As of July 2022, he’s married to Roxanne Daner, and they have two sons together.

Hobbies and other interests

Adam’s highly active on various social media networks, and has uploaded over 6,000 pictures onto his Instagram account, while he’s today followed by more than 50,000 people; he’s passionate about photography, and most of his Instagram pictures have been taken by him.

Travelling is one of his main hobbies, and Adam’s been to many US states and European countries for both work and pleasure, while his dream travel destination is Oslo, Norway.

His favorite season is summer, mostly because he enjoys sun tanning and playing beach sports.

Adam has his own favorite actor and actress, the late Marlon Brando, and Meryl Streep, while a couple of his favorite movies are the trilogy “The Godfather”, “Apocalypse Now” and “The Bridges of Madison County”.
